Following the signing of New Zealand’s Tiki Taane and America’s Jim Ward, Stop Start are excited to announce the arrival of another US based outfit, the not so American sounding ‘French Horn Rebellion’. French Horn Rebellion are Robert and David Perlick-Molinar, two brothers originally hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Their debut, ‘The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion’ was written, produced and mixed by them both, the result is a record that warps the fabric of dance, electro, rock and funk - and may just turn out to be a contender for this year’s most ambitious, multi-faceted and engaging debut album. As a concept album, it also follows an intergalactic narrative that tracks the physical and emotional journey of an unknown French Horn player.
“There is a story running through the album, it’s about the Universe. We’re pretty clear on what the story is, but what you take away from it may be something entirely different,” says David.
Now based in Brooklyn, New York, the two brothers have made a lot of friends and global admirers after touring with the likes of Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells, The Drums and Australia’s very own Cut Copy. Recently ‘The Knocks’ madly tweeted of them “it’s like the hottest thing I’ve ever heard”!
To add to those credentials David produced MGMT’s ‘Time To Pretend EP’ and together David and Robert have remixed tracks for MEN, Two Door Cinema Club, OMD and Miami Horror.
Andy Bryan, Stop Start head said, ‘I’ve been lucky enough to catch French Horn Rebellion at CMJ and SXSW and I love this act. I’m really excited that the Stop Start family will be releasing this album in Australia. It’s an ambitious sounding record but somehow relevant to so much happening in music at the moment. I hope people will love it and come out a see the band when they come and tour later in the year”.
The single ‘This Moment’ was serviced to Australian media this week with the album ‘The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion’ out through Stop Start on July 15.
