Hot on the heels of last week’s announcement that GYROSCOPE will be joining THE LIVING END at THE JD SET on Rottnest Island on 28 November, we are pleased to announce that the band who Australian music fans have chosen to Rock out with these amazing headliners is THE OWLS!
Formed in 2008, The Owls have been relentlessly performing over the last two years, playing to packed venues in Newcastle and Sydney and have also received airplay on FBi Radio. They are constantly recording to refine and hone their unique Rock’n’Roll style and their live shows offer the jagged edges expected from quality live Rock. Distorted flurries of dark brooding bass and guitar riffs, supported by the gritty drawl of Josh Bailey’s vocals, generate a kinetic energy of frenzied musical performance making them the perfect band to complimentThe Living End and Gyroscope.
A shocked Lewis Gillespie of The Owls said of the win “We are really happy that we got through and stoked with the opportunity to support the likes of The Living End and Gyroscope. We have a solid live show and it will be a great chance to showcase that in such a unique setting.”
Needing no introduction, our headliners, The Living End burst onto the scene in the late nineties with their explosive Rock’n’Roll riffs and quickly established themselves as one of the best loved and most respected bands in the country. With many hit songs, multi-platinum sales, world tours, front covers of world class magazines, awards and accolades, sold out shows and festival headlining appearances, The Living End continue to impress.
2010 has been a mammoth year for Gyroscope, their fourth studio album Cohesion was released earlier this year debuting at #3 on the ARIA Album Charts and taking out the top spot on iTunes cementing them as one of Australia’s premier Rock bands. It is from the mere fact that the band formed when they were still at school, to the size of their enormous fan base built on more than a decade of releases and relentless touring, that the Perth rock quartet has shown that while nothing in music can be foretold, the right foundation makes anything possible.
