Since the very beginning, some 5 years ago, Sydney’s FBi 94.5 have presented the Purple Sneakers New Years Eve House Party. They were there when it was just a party in a pub and came along for the ride as it grew to a 2,500 capacity event over three levels (including an FBi 94.5 sponsored stage). And now we’re going back to our indie roots and into the pub again as FBi 94.5, Purple Sneakers, Pedestrian.tv and Posse present LAST NIGHT: A New Years Eve House Party & Official FBi 94.5 Fundraiser.

Over the years the event has featured a plethora of local acts, some of which were already known and others who have since become household names. Bands like The Holidays, The Jezabels, Bluejuice, Yves Klein Blue, Faker, Dappled Cities, The Tongue, The Grates, Sparkadia, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Shazam, Cloud Control and many more have all taken to the stage. The event has also hosted its fair share of international acts, such as The Teenagers (France), Frightened Rabbit (Scotland), Ponytail (USA), Franki Chan (USA), JD Samson (Le Tigre) and The Boxer Rebellion (UK).

This coming New Years Eve sees FBi 94.5 and Purple Sneakers shining a spotlight on what it's all about: the local music community partying in a well loved local music establishment with up and coming acts who will all become household names over the coming years. The first round of announcements for this year include FBi favourites such as The Paper Scissors, Guineafowl, Gold Fields, Ghoul, Bearhug and Butcher Blades as well as Purple Sneakers DJs, FBi DJs, Surecut Kids and Kato to keep the party steaming until extremely late. More bands and DJs to be announced.

FBi 94.5 will also be selecting one brand new band from their monthly Open Day to kick off the night. Open Day is the station’s longest running initiative and has been responsible for discovering some of the FBi’s favourite acts.

Going back to our roots also means making it cheap and cosy. This year’s event will be held at The Gaelic which has been newly renovated (500 capacity) and with tickets prices starting at $24 for FBi Supporters or $29 full price this party is specifically for those who are passionate about local acts and want an affordable party with like minded music lovers.

And most importantly, rather than being just another NYE party, Last Night: A New Years Eve House Party will be an Official FBi 94.5 Fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Sydney station. So not only are partygoers getting a super cheap party right in the heart of Sydney (and right next to Central Station) they are doing something positive by helping FBi 94.5 remain the vibrant hub of the local independent music scene.
