Katie Noonan announces February and March National Australian Tour

With a new album, a fresh sound, and a new band the Captains, six-time platinum and multiple ARIA winning recording artist Katie Noonan returned to the spotlight this year. Co-produced by Katie and Grammy Award-winning rock specialist Nick Didia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Stone Temple Pilots, Powderfinger) the April release of her Emperor’s Box album was met with critical acclaim:

“Here is a rare talent with a voice of extraordinary beauty and versatility”
The Australian

“it is a joy to hear Noonan return to the more traditional pop of Emperor’s Box, albeit with a sumptuous and skewed take on the art form that combines the experimental beauty of Sigur Ros and Radiohead with the dark, dreamy atmospherics of 27”
Rolling Stone Magazine (4 Stars)

“[Emperor’s Box] is unique in the qualities that make it a pertinent listen regardless of genre, place and time”
Time Off Magazine

The sound of a confident, accomplished artist, Emperor’s Box is a lush and at times muscular affair, captured in the studio by a tight unit clearly at the peak of their form. And of course, Katie’s vocals shine.

In February and March 2011 Katie Noonan and the Captains will be returning to the road to share this music with audiences across the nation. This will be the last chance in a while to see this band live before Katie embarks on new musical adventures with her trio ‘elixir’ and classical guitarist Karin Schaupp.

“They say bias is a dirty word when it comes to music reviewing, but that doesn’t really enter the equation when you’re talking about Katie Noonan. With a voice that could level suburbs and the technique to match. Noonan has somehow managed to avoid serious chart success by writing music too smart for the average FM listeners ears… realistically – Katie can do anything. She’s the bolt blocking the carbon copy machine from pumping out more clones”
Brag Magazine

"Noonan's soaring, beautifully phrased high notes, ultra-musical communication of meaning and expressive use of the microphone and digital technologies were stunning.”
