With their latest track ‘Houdini’ doing magic tricks across airwaves, Los Angeles three-piece Foster The People add another Melbourne date to their inaugural Australian tour next month. Secret Sounds and Handsome Tours bring you a second show at Northcote Social Club on Thursday, February 17th.
Foster The People hit The Zoo in Brisbane on Sunday, February 13th, followed by Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on Monday, February 14th before heading to Melbourne on Wednesday, February 16th to headline Northcote Social Club two nights in a row.
Hollywood’s hottest exports are proving they aren’t one hit wonders, after their debut single ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ sparked a following the world over, and prompting over a million YouTube hits. They’ve since followed up with two equally impressive singles, with ‘Houdini’ jumping onto Triple J high rotation and ‘Helena Beat’ spreading like wildfire across social networks. This band has been working on a plethora of material to be showcased here during this summer’s tour down under.
Foster The People will be joined in Sydney by Blue Mountains’ psychedelic folk pop outfit, Belles Will Ring. With one album under their belt and another highly anticipated recording on the horizon, Belles Will Ring are proving their mettle as seasoned travelers. The five-piece’s subtle blend of Americana, pop and dark melodies comes alive on stage. Their road-trip of an album ‘Come To The Village’ is set to draw a slew of followers.
In Melbourne, Strange Talk takes the honours as local support. Their upbeat single ‘Climbing the Walls’ has seen radio and reviewers “losing their shit” over it. Triple J’s Zan Rowe calls it “perfect pop with a sprinkling of Klaxons-esque multi-vocals and a great driving beat” before adding, “I LIKE THIS.” So do Foster The People, extending the invite to this talented bunch.
