Faker to offer a glimpse into the past with The Back Lot.

Fishing through old demos and early versions of songs can be a precarious sport. But while working through brand new material for release this year, Faker decided to look back into their history as they prepared to step forward into the future. They came across old songs recorded in hotel rooms that have never seen the light of day, original demo's of songs that would end up making it onto albums, single b-sides heard by a select few and lots more....

The band now keep this stuff in a place affectionately known as The Back Lot: a vault of rose-coloured history and pre-loved ideas that document the band's journey and wait patiently to be uncovered...

For the next 3 weeks, as Faker prepare to unleash new music on the world, fans will have the opportunity to vist The Back Lot at www.faker.com.au and stream or download a track in the vault every 3 days. Each track will be accompanied by a blog from Nathan as well as an image from the time when the track was recorded; your own little slice of Faker history to keep forever.

The Back Lot serves as a reminder of loves lost and even won, and facititates a process of rediscovery for the band and their fans. Nathan gives this insight to the process:

“Generally, with each rediscovery comes a gentle reminder of who we were, as opposed to who we are right now... totally confronting, but still a good thing to do when you're in the right frame of mind. I find it particularly advantageous when I'm on my way to a new place to discover something that I haven't seen before.

"There's actually a sliver of time that comes in the life of a band where every-so-often if feels OK to look back on what you've done and glance at the initial moments of inspiration or glimpse into some of the what-might-have-been... For us it came at the point where we were just days out of completing our new record."

Check out The Back Lot at www.faker.com.au from Monday, 2 May. New music from Faker will be released soon......
