Danimals release Nightshift in Blue

danimals-1

With Danimals popping up on many ‘to watch in 2010’ lists, its no surprise that what began as a solo project, the brainchild of Jonti Danilewitz, has exploded from the confines of his bedroom, to the streets of New York.  As the winner of the Lab competition, Danimals was hand-picked by mega-producer Mark Ronson to fly to New York and work with the likes of Santigold, Sean Lennon, Albert Hammond Jnr, The Dap-Kings, The Kaiser Chiefs and members of Duran-Duran.

Paying homage to the beat and sampling culture, Danimals is ultimately the result of a love of pop music and atmospheric electronica, a quirky sound born of the use of everything from laptop, synth, guitar, records and various household items.

Having recently become the first Australian artist to be signed to Stone’s Throw Records (Madlib, Dam-Funk and J Dilla) Danimals is now set to hit the road for an East Coast tour, showcasing tracks from his debut album due for release in early 2011.

The first single from the album is Nightshift in Blue (available as a limited edition 7” with b-side along with digital from itunes from November 12). This will be the second release on the Midnight Juggernauts label Siberia Records following a sold-out Cassette release and vinyl for Kirin J Callinan.

Supporting Danimals on tour will be Sydney experimental pop duo and recent Triple J Unearthed winners, Kyu, whose mix of vast soundscapes and vibrant melodies creates an ornate, yet raw experimental pop sound.  Also on the bill will be good friends and 2/5ths of Danimals live band, James Domeyko & Jaie Gonzalez – aka Domeyko/Gonzalez - fearless explorers of the uncharted space between cosmic noise, ethereal soundscapes and skuzzy guitar music.
