After much deliberation, the artist formerly known as Danimals, (real name Jonti Danilewitz) will now be known Djanimals.

Due to a certain yogurt brand in the USA falling under the same name, and a signing with renowned US record label, Stones Throw Records, various trademark lawyers advised Jonti, that it would be in his best interest to change the name or face a major lawsuit from Dannon.

Jonti explains,  "When I started, my brother recommended I use 'Danimals' as a silly play on our surname. It was cool and did the job. As this stuff got more serious, we became aware of the children’s yogurt and the massive corporation known as Dannon that could eat our heads off they so desired. So obviously it makes sense to change it while everything is still in its infancy. Honestly who would mess with that gorilla?”

 

“But of course at the end of the day, none of this stuff matters except for the content of the music. So come celebrate this new chapter at the November tour for our first official single "Nightshift in Blue"!”
