As summer winds itself to an unwilling end and trees avail themselves of their leaves, good friends Georgia Fair and Daniel Lee Kendall will combine their considerable live talents to embark on a delectable double-headline tour. These promising artists will team up for a series of shows throughout Victoria and New South Wales. The value of this bill should leave audiences feeling decidedly chipper about the encroaching cold.
Georgia Fair is the musical incarnation of long-time high school friends Jordan and Ben. Combined, these two fine musicians project their laid back dispositions via a stunning array of melodic tunes, songs with subtle harmonies and striking, pastoral vocal compositions. After decamping to North Carolina last year to record with Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses fame, the first offering of their efforts has emerged, the beautiful Times Fly EP. A taste of their forthcoming album, Times Fly features the melodious and memorable eponymous lead single of the same name, along with a video featuring a cameo by local chanteuse Lisa Mitchell. With tours alongside such well-loved artists as Lisa Mitchell, Kate Miller-Heidke, Oh Mercy and Megan Washington, Georgia Fair are garnering quite the live following with very clear reason.
Likewise, Daniel Lee Kendall has been impressing audiences nightly on his debut national tour with Old Man River & Passenger. Both a triple j Unearthed winner and Next Crop Feature Artist in 2010, DLK’s debut EP Lost in the Moment has been earning well deserved attention from both new fans and media. The uplifting sounds of single Lost in the Moment have been pricking up ears everywhere of late, listeners responding fervently to the warm themes evoked by Daniel’s music. With a new EP due in the coming months, 2011 is looking bright already. Daniel’s voice is just as honeyed live as it is recorded; his performance as intimate as the themes of his EP. Daniel Lee Kendall is one very impressive artist, one that is still growing, and that is very exciting indeed.
Both Daniel Lee Kendall and Georgia Fair share and affection for the inimitable Bob Dylan, something that is reflected in the vivid narratives translated through both artists’ textured tunes. As the great man himself said: Seasons they are turning and my sad heart is yearning …Embrace the coming of winter as these two stunning acts meander through March with stories of hope and heartbreak.
