Bobby Flynn has put together a new live outfit and is set to commence playing gigs around Melbourne town - where he will be showcasing material from his forthcoming second album.
Brisvegas-born balladist Bobby Flynn has been mining melodious gold since he was but a lad; from high school bands to café and pub tours, Flynn has been climbing the musical ladder, touring nationally in 2007 and 2008 with his previous band The Omega 3. His stellar debut album ‘Out Front’, released in 2008 via Shock Records received rave reviews and continues to sell. It subsequently opened cinematic doors for Flynn, who has since contributed his musical wares to ‘Underbelly: The Golden Mile’ and the stunning Annika Glac film ‘Belladonna’.
2010 saw Bobby team up with the sonically gifted Pip Norman of Aussie hip-hop/funk act TZU. Norman has production credits on some of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary albums, including records from Sparkadia, Urthboy and Ash Grunwald. The two are currently putting the finishing touches to Bobby’s second album, due for release late 2011. With Norman at the production helm, the pair have created an exciting body of work with a fresh new sound, capturing Bobby’s unique vocals in very different shades from his previous work.
“It’s his voice, which brings to mind the otherworldly tenderness of Nick Drake and baritone flashes of early 70s David Bowie,” wrote Mark Mordue in The Sydney Morning Herald. “The idealism, almost, of another time we may have felt we lost.”
Bobby’s new show with full band combines his charming and entertaining stage presence and talent for creating catchy melodic pop hooks with his unmistakable voice - and delivers a live set charged with emotional honesty, artistic individuality and sparkling new songs.
