Civil Society is excited and proud to announce that Brooklyn’s Bear In Heaven and The Antlers will co-headline two East Coast shows in February 2011 as part of their first trip to Australia. Having both released universally acclaimed albums in 2009, the pairing of these two breakthrough bands is set be nothing short of breathtaking.

Bear In Heaven have recently released their second studio album ‘Beast Rest Forth Mouth’, and have emerged as one of the most acclaimed breakthrough acts of the last twelve months, receiving rave reviews throughout the blogosphere.

Similarly, The Antlers new album ‘Hospice’ has also been accepted with open ears across the world, being rated by worldwide review aggregator Metacritic as being the #4 most universally applauded album of 2009. ‘Hospice’ is a breathtaking album, with a sound that’s as ambitious as its concept.

Both bands have much more in common than one might think, as they both have in their own way created albums layered with varying soundscapes of sonic and lyrical levels; and both their latest releases have received huge critical acclaim and have caused whirlwinds of buzz in the blog world, with Beast Rest Forth Mouth and Hospice gaining Pitchfork’s ‘Best New Music’ label in 2009.

In terms of their live shows, Bear In Heaven’s already heavily textured and dreamy sound becomes even more celestial – entering into a vast psychedelic landscape where vocals become dreamier and classic guitar screams are swallowed by vintage synth sounds that were presumed to be lost in the 1970’s. The Antlers’ live show promises a sound that one would expect to come from a six-piece band, that in fact comes from a three-piece.

With the sonic strides they’ve taken since releasing their latest albums, it is time for Bear In Heaven and The Antlers to finally grace Australia’s shores with their much-hyped live shows. Each in their own right, both bands stand out as major sonic successes of the last twelve months – put them on stage performing alongside one another and anything is possible.

Bear In Heaven and The Antlers will play in Sydney and Melbourne this February, 2011.
