ARIA Chart News for week commencing 18 October 2010

Australian music lovers have taken P!nk to the top of the ARIA Charts countless times over the last ten years, and that tradition continues this week, with her new single “Raise Your Glass” debuting at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart.  It was October 2000 when P!nk landed her first Australian #1 with “Most Girls”, and chart topping singles have followed with the group effort “Lady Marmalade”, “Get The Party Started” and “So What”, which reigned at the top of the chart in October 2008.  “Raise Your Glass” represents a new milestone for P!nk, being her first single to debut at number one.

UK band Bring Me The Horizon triumphs at the peak of the ARIA Album Chart on debut, their third studio album easily the longest-titled release ever to top the chart! “There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret” easily eclipses the #28 peak of their 2008 release, “Suicide Season”, and they lead the way in a week which sees a total of nine top 40 debuts.

In further ARIA Album Chart news this week, Irish lads The Script continue their ascent, up from 5 to 2 with “Science & Faith”.  New Zealand born singer/songwriter Brooke Fraser claims a #3 debut with her third Australian chart album “Flags”, the follow up to “Albertine”, which peaked at #29 in April 2007, and 2004’s “What To Do With Daylight” which reached #85.  Robbie Williams adds a ninth top 10 result to his tally as a solo artist, with “In And Out Of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990 – 2010” debuting at #6 this week – his previous Greatest Hits package topped the chart for nine weeks in 2004/05.

Other highlights include John Lennon’s “Power To The People – The Hits”, which jumps into the top 10, up from 26 to 10 this week, and legendary Aussie rockers You Am I, who enjoy a top 20 debut for their ninth studio album, the self-titled set coming in at #18.  Angus & Julia Stone add a second album to the top 40 (“Down The Way” sits at #9 this week), with “iTunes Live: Live From Sydney” on debut at #26, whilst The Audreys’ third album “Sometimes The Stars” comes in at #28.  There are a further three top 40 debuts this week, with Cam Henderson at 33, Boyzone at 34 and Alter Bridge at 35, and sliding into #40 spot is Fleetwood Mac’s “The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac”, which chalks up its 67th week in the top 40!

With P!nk topping this week’s ARIA Singles Chart, Nelly also leaps into the top five, his single “Just A Dream” moving up from 8 to 4.   Pitbull featuring T-Pain debuts at #16 with “Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)”, Jessica Mauboy’s “Get ‘Em Girls” featuring Snoop Dogg lands at #19, followed by Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” at #20.

US superstars Kings Of Leon blast from 32 to 24 with “Radioactive” and Eminem scores three singles in the top 40 as “No Love” featuring Lil Wayne enters at 30.  The final top 40 debut comes from a track that’s currently #2 on the US Billboard Chart Hot 100 – “Like A G6” from Far East Movement featuring The Cataracs and Dev, which enters at #33.
