You are invited to Amy Meredith: Higher Education. One of Australia’s great breakthrough success stories are packing their bags once again ready to hit the road for the National ‘Higher Education’ tour. The boys will up the ante this time around, playing seventeen dates through May and June in venues across Australia.
In what will be a massive six-week party, this tour will celebrate the band’s epic achievements since the release of their debut record Restless in July last year. Over the past eighteen months, the five-piece outfit have well and truly cemented their status as one of Australia’s hottest acts. The smash hit single Lying cracked the ARIA Singles Chart top 10 and claimed Platinum status in January, the band wowed audiences at an international showcase and chalked up dual 2010 ARIA Awards nominations for Breakthrough Artist and Most Popular Australian Artist.
Joining Amy Meredith on the road will be label mates Tonight Alive, the up and coming female fronted 5 piece pop/punk group from Sydney. The band, signed worldwide to Sony Music, have spent the past year earning their stripes and have toured with the likes of 3oh3 and Lost Prophets and most recently the Getaway Plan. Fresh from recording in LA, Tonight Alive will release their debut album in Australia in late 2011.
With sold-out out tour dates across the country last year, fans have well and truly embraced Amy Meredith’s quirky pop aesthetic, and Restless continues to prove its longevity as it approaches Gold status.
Amy Meredith’s reputation for stellar live performances continues to grow and impress, with The Daily Telegraph’s Kathy McCabe reporting that “One of the biggest surprises on the bill, Sydney pop rock outfit Amy Meredith, carved up the stage…” from this year’s Big Day Out.
Following Pornstar, Lying, Young At Heart and summer radio smash Faded White Dress, the fifth as yet unconfirmed single will impact radio in early March, and should see the band chalk up another massive hit.
The year ahead promises to be even bigger for Amy Meredith, with charismatic front-man Christian Lo Russo and guitarist Joel Chapman embarking on a writing trip to the US in March. Post-tour, the band will leave Australian shores and relocate to LA and bunker down to record their sophomore album.
Be sure to catch Amy Meredith on their only tour of 2011.
And also check them out as they get 'revenge' on Channel [V] HERE. They'll fill you in there....
