Sydney rock band Yell Yell Rebellion opened the night to quite an empty crowd, however that didn’t deter them from giving an admirable performance. They slowly eased into the set with heavy guitar riffs along with destructive bass lines and precise drumming, this Sydney three-piece is a band to watch out for.
The latest band to be signed to the prestigious Taperjean label is Sydney five-piece pop rock outfit Ladies & Gentlemen. Their set was mediocre at best and boring. Lead singer/guitarist Jared sung in a monotone voice which nearly put me to sleep while the rest of the band seemed like they didn’t want to be there. However there is always room for improvement and hopefully the next time I see them it’ll be different.
Dear Equal Vision Records,
Please hurry up and sign The Mission In Motion to your label.
Sincerely yours,
Dane Wang
By now the venue was almost full and the anticipation from the crowd was growing. It would be an understatement to say that The Mission In Motion are a great band, in fact it would be offensive.
Showcasing their debut release Somewhere Safe the band proved why they are fast coming one of the best bands in the country. Starting with "The News" the band tore into their set like a hurricane, displaying an impressive new live show that is more energetic and passionate. Their set was comprised of new and old songs from their new single "New Skin", which is now my party anthem before I go drinking every week: “Hey let’s forget the week that’s been, cause we’ve been waiting we’ve been waiting, to come alive under new skin”.
The band continued to execute each song perfectly from "Any More Gunplay Gets Answered" to "Don’t You Just Love Theatre". They also performed songs off their debut album from the catchy pop rock tune "All Roads Lead To Home" and the breathtaking passion-filled "Believer".
"We Take This To The Night" finished the band's outstanding set and left the crowd wanting more.
If you haven’t already, go pick up their debut album Somewhere Safe and treat your ears to something special, after all the shit you made them listen to it’s about time you treated them right, yeah? Okay cool.
