Spectacles - Great opener. Just a drummer and a guitarist/vocalist/keyboardist but they were joined later onstage by a guy playing bass, no idea if he was in the actual band or not. The set took a definitively experimental (hooray!) turn when the leads trippy oscillating synth started penetrating the room over the apt drumming- I was completely mesmerised for about 35 seconds - transfixed by this mind boggling sound with drums over the top that actually sounded really original and was totally out of the blue. Cool style.
Alter Ego Mania - I'd heard of these guys a fair bit before, namely from my flatmate who'd (apparently) banged one of them. They had a pretty somber sound. The lead was wearing great shoes.
One Flew East - Perfect closer. Rich (the lead) was a really enigmatic performer; jumpy, rowdy, a really unique voice. The bands sound was cohesive, really tight, and the slight hip-hop influences became immediately apparent when the crowd decided to go about half as nuts as Rich. Great drumming too.
