Everyone is in love with Emily Haines of Metric, and if they are not then they most definitely should be. Bouncing around all over the stage and guiding the audience through a great set list you could be certain that the room was full of adoring eyes and they were all on Emily.
You could feel the happiness radiating from all attendees as they sang along to ‘Monster Hospital’ which popped up very early in the set, followed by the popular ‘Golden Gun Girls’. The joy coming from the audience seemed to give Emily even more energy, and the more energy she had the more the crowd got into it, it was a never-ending cycle of awesomeness.
The set was getting progressively better and each song performance managed to somehow find a way to top the previous song. ‘Dead Disco’ and ‘Help, I’m alive’ were my personally favourite performances. The performance peaked at ‘Stadium Love’ however as the sing-a-long quickly spread like wildfire.
A bit of an intermission and then back for encore “Live It Out’ was received with great enthusiasm with Emily Haines claiming it to be ‘our freebird,’ however, it was a slow closer to a crowd that wanted to keep the energy coming.
All in all an amazing gig by an amazing band and they should not be missed if you ever have the opportunity to catch them, even if you aren’t a huge fan (you will be by the end of the set).
