Walking up the stairs to the Spectrum, we were greeted by the familiar smell of alcohol and cigarettes.

Melbourne metal band The Rose Line dove into the show, firing up the crowd with intense rhythms and powerful vocals.

Up next were Sydney hardcore band; Hand of Mercy who know just how to get the party started. Their insane mix of brutal breakdowns, dynamic riffs mixed with Scott’s demonic voice complement each other, demonstrating why they are soon to be the next big thing.

By now the Spectrum had filled up, with the crowd eagerly waiting for California’s The Ghost Inside. The band opened the set with Destined which immediately got the pit moving. It was clear that the band were fatigued, having just played a show earlier that night in Wyong. However they powered through the set without any problems playing Shiner followed by the emotional face punch that is Provoke. Two new songs were always played which gave us a taste of what their new CD ‘Returners’ will sound like, and judging by their live performance, it will be truly glorious. They ended the night with crowd favourite Faith Or Forgiveness with the entire venue shouting “I’ll see you when the sun sets”.

Stage dives and high fives are what it’s all about and hopefully we will get to see The Ghost Inside again very soon.
