3OH!3 + DJ Skeet Skeet + Tonight Live - Metro Theatre (16.10.09)

Sydney’s female fronted pop punk
stars Tonight Alive opened the night to a full house. They wasted
no time in getting the audience moving with their catchy riffs and blistering
drumming. Front woman Jenna charmed the audience with her gorgeous smile
and captivated the audience with her voice. She had no trouble at all
in getting the audience screaming with To Die For… a pop punk
anthem that could give Paramore a run for their money. Fans launched
into the pit for Invincible, a slow melodic song that still got
feet jumping and heads banging. This reviewer feels that it won’t
be long before these youngsters make it big.

Up next was DJ Skeet Skeet who
felt right at home as he strutted on stage. He got the audience dancing
with his infectious remixes of song from Dizzee Rascal, Rihanna, Diplo,
Daft Punk and The Ting Tings. After an intense set he made room for
3OH!3 to an energized crowd.

3OH!3, comprising of Sean Foreman
and Nathaniel Motte burst onto the stage, and immediately hypnotised
the audience with PunkB*tch
a dirty synth-punk filled song. Continuously moving and dancing around
the stage, the duo entertained the crowd with their antics, while discussing
vegemite and pornography. This being an all ages show, it was quite
frightening to witness children as young as 10 cheering and dancing
to such misogynistic lyrics. However, they continued the party with
favorites from Chokechain and Starstrukk
and slowed it down with a bit of Colorado Sunshine.

The audience never broke eye contact,
keeping their eyes fixated on the duo’s every move. 3OH!3 continued
to showcase their eccentric dance moves, as well as showing off their
impressive physique with a couple pushups. I guess working with Katy
Perry would inflate anyone’s ego. The duo ended the night with the
encore Don’t Trust Me, with the entire crowd lifting their
hands representing the 3OH!3 logo all the while getting messy and wrecked.
3OH!3 found it professionally appropriate to end their songs abruptly
with a short set. This reviewer didn’t agree with their choices and
chooses not to adopt it into his own wo- oh hey a bird.
