Sounds Australia put on a special showcase at BD Reilly's in Austin on Tuesday afternoon at SXSW, called "She'll Be Right", featuring the wonderful women of Australian music. We briefly caught Lucy Campbell, who sounded spellbinding in acoustic mode. Next up, and one of the two bands pictured, we're Adelaide's The Audreys who were performing as a duo and making their Austin debut.
With a country appeal, they're a perfect fit for the scene here, playing songs like "Banjo and Violin" with an electric guitar and a (piano blowing thing), "Comfort Me", one of their many songs about love gone wrong and new song "Roll Away".
Closing out the show was the one and only Emma Louise who is getting set to release her album VS Head VS Heart. This is her first tour to the US where she has been able to bring her full band and it works wonders - not to mention her new equipment! This is easily the fullest I've ever seen her sound; not that her exquisite songwriting requires it, but it certainly proves to be icing on the cake.
She performed tracks off of the album, which included favourites such as "Boy" as well as relative unknowns, "Atlas Eyes", "Mirrors" and "Cages". Though her record comes out in Australia on March 22nd, her US release will be in May. Here's hoping the US trip works wonders for her and its release! We have no doubt it will.
