Wagons began their show with very little fanfare and introduction, choosing to jump right into new album single 'Downlow'. This worried me initially... I'm used to lead singer and guitarist Henry Wagons' banter leading the was. But thankfully after 'Downlow' and Rumble, Shake and Tumble lead single 'I Blew It', Mr. Wagons got right into it, cracking wise and poking fun of both the audience and himself.
It's not hard to see him going down the Henry Rollins route in a few years, but it'd be more of an actual comedy show rather than "oh boy, you better laugh because the big scary tattooed man on stage is yelling something topical".
My personal favourite tracks off of The Rise And Fall Of Goodtown, 'Goodtown' 'The Gambler' and Elvis cover 'Never Been To Spain' get a great showing amongst the footstomping new material, and it's all extremely well received. Wagons are simply one of the most entertaining touring bands of the past few years - of Australia and the world.
