T'was truly a night of the stage invasion!
Up first, Melbourne band Bittersweet Kicks had their work cut out for them. But the lack of warm bodies in the bar failed to hinder
their energy on stage, and they put in a noble effort, playing
some hard and rocky tunes.
The pleasant surprise of the evening were The Rumjacks. Their music, fast jumpy
punk with a celtic twist, made keeping still very hard. They warmed the
crowd up perfectly as lead singer Frankie contorted his face and played
his tin whistle and Bodhran.
The S
nowdroppers did not disappoint with their punk hillbilly sound. There was much moshing up the front and plenty of swooning over Johnny
Wishbone and his Clark Gable style...
Hell City Glamours got off to a good start, with a naked man appearing on stage for the first song off the rank. The crowd, clearly close followers of theirs, were pushed further into a glam rock psychosis, culminating in a mass stage invasion of what looked to be the entire front section of the audience. Troopers as they were, the Hell City Glamours soldiered on, even after the Mic was stolen from their clutches and fans did their best singing rendition of the remaining song.
They managed to clear the stage for a few songs, only to invite The Snowdroppers up to share the last song, which got the audience into an even sweatier heap. This was aided by various band members launching themselves into the crowd. What a night! Here's the photo gallery for you...
