Last night Fanny Lumsden and the Thrillseekers played to a sold out, hometown crowd, as they celebrated the launch of their new EP Autumn Lawn surrounded by astroturf, bails of hay and... popcorn. The talented performer gave her audience a mix of old and new, leaving plenty of time for her wonderful backing band to shine along the way.
Highlights of the set included "Hello Bright Eyes", the extraordinary "Bushfires" off one of her earlier EPs, "Whistleblowers" and "Oh Little Lamb", which inspired the hay bails (not that she needed an excuse, really). Fanny is one of Sydney's best kept secrets... well, until now. With an impeccable voice, an ever improving knack at writing marketable tunes - but still with a whole heap of heart - she is one artist you want to make sure you catch sooner rather than later. I'm getting rather fond of seeing her in such intimate venues, but who knows how much longer that will last! - Larry Heath
