Easily one of the most anticipated of the Big Day Out sideshows, the band did not disappoint, jamming out tracks from their latest record Gloss Drop and of course favourites from their groundbreaking debut Mirrored. Having seen them at the Opera House on their last tour, it would be safe to say that these songs aren't the same without Tyondai Braxton - but Battles have embraced this change and made the songs work in his absence. The result was an hour or so of beauty that I won't soon forget. - Larry Heath
