Photo Gallery and Live Review: Architecture in Helsinki + Cut Off Your Hands + Geoffrey O’Connor - The Forum (10.09.11)

Architecture In Helsinki lit up the Forum on Saturday with an abundantly fun performance in support of their latest album Moment Bends.

Geoffrey O’Connor opened the evening with his nerdy romanticisms. The singer’s geeky silhouette paced the stage, as he crooned to the slowly filling Forum Theatre. New Zealand outfit Cut Off Your Hands were next, with their Smiths-tinged indie pop getting the crowd warmed up, and like the headline act, also promoting a new album, in the form of Hollow.

Architecture In Helsinki took to the stage, dressed like they’d just stepped out of the 80’s, and sounding like it too. The Melbourne funsters, danced, strutted and sang in a mist of smoke and epileptic lighting as the blasted through the opening of their set with the ever-catchy ‘That Beep’ getting the crowd dancing in full swing. The atmosphere was upbeat from the get go, with one of the most friendly, and boppy crowds I’ve seen in a long time, and I must of seen at least, at least… a dozen ponchos, you can always tell how fun is crowd is by the poncho to punter ratio. They lapped up everything the Melbourne natives had to offer, reserving the biggest cheer for the likes of ‘Do The Whirlwind’ and ‘Heart It Races’.
