A Tribe Called Quest are Hip Hop pioneers. In the game for over 20 years, it would no doubt be interesting to see which songs would be pulled out in front of a packed Festival Hall crowd.

This was the scene on Thursday night for A Tribe Called Quest's well overdue first ever trip to Australian shores. Festival Hall was bursting at the seams to see Q-Tip and Phife bust out the rhymes to some of Hip Hops most iconic and well known songs.With DJ Maseo (De La Soul) warming up the crowd, it was obvious that this night would be one for the ages.

When Q-Tip and Phife finally came onto the stage they were greeted with rapturous applause and admiration - it wasn't long before these two had the crowd eating from their hands.

But they were having plenty of fun themselves, too - During track two, "Steve Biko", the two rappers did a little dance for the crowd, which was graciously accepted by all. Their third song was another highlight, with "Phony Rappers" drawing immediate hands in the air from all in attendance. Their set list contained a massive 28 songs, a testament to their longevity.

I walked away from Thursday nights gig thoroughly entertained, having known I had (finally) seen two of Hip Hops greatest MCs in action.
