BIGSOUND announces first round of artists and speakers to appear at 2013 conference.

BIGSOUND returns for its 12th year in 2013 and tonight, they have revealed the first lot of artists and industry professionals set to perform and speak at the music conference in Brisbane later in the year. The September 11-13 event will be represented by some of the best in the international and local market, with the following artists set to perform, with more still to be announced:

The John Steel Singers
Bleeding Knees Club
Stonefield

Neutral Milk Hotel set for Australia visit later in the year for Harvest Festival!

Thanks to a link via a Pitchfork article today, Neutral Milk Hotel will indeed be here to play the Harvest Festival later in the year! Fans in Australian have been going nuts with this announcement, following on from a confirmation that the band will be performing their first international shows of the year in Australia after a 12 date run through America.

Austin City Limits (ACL) Festival announces 2013 Line Up inc. The Cure, Depeche Mode and Tame Impala.

With C3 Presents a huge part of Big Day Out now in Australia, the US festivals Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits now play a huge part in lending us our predictions for the yearly Australian event (C3 also put on the two mentioned events). With Lolla already announced, today we also have been graced with the 2013 lineup for Austin City Limits, which we covered last year. This will be the first year the festival will take place over two weekends at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, as Coachella has seemed to make popular.

James Blake, Haim, MS MR and more announce Splendour sideshows.

Now that Splendour has sold out, we have the pleasure of enjoying a slew of sideshow announcement that make those of us who were sad about not going to Splendour, a little less sad... because many of our favourite bands are coming much closer to home! Today we have announcements for James Blake, Haim, MS MR, Everything Everything, FIDLAR, Jake Bugg, Daughter, Palma Violets, Surfer Blood and a tease from Laura Marling... Spin Off Festival in Adelaide announces lineup.

In 2012, Adelaide's 5/4 Entertainment teamed up with Splendour in the Grass' Paul Piticco to put on a "bite sized" Splendour in Adelaide, dubbed the "Spin Off Festival". The first year featured, Lana Del Rey, Kimbra, Band of Skulls and more. 2013 will see the festival returning to give Adelaide fans a reason to celebrate. It will take place at the Thebarton Theatre on Friday, August 2nd.

Toy touring Australia for the first time in June!

Psychedelic indie music makers Toy will be in Australia for the first time this June! One of NME's "Bands You Need to Hear", Toy have been impressing audiences all over the place with their expressive and kaleidoscopic grasp on sound and musicality. Japan's Mono touring "For My Parents" through June.

Their announcement that they'd be appearing at MONA DARK MOFO this year was enough to ruffle the feathers of excitement within the Australian Mono fan base. Now, the Japanese instrumentalists have confirmed that they will be performing an extensive Australian run of dates through June (including some NZ dates), touring their album For My Parents. Tickets for all the shows are on sale now.

The Tongue's "Surrender to Victory" tour kicking off in Melbourne on June 8!

The Tongue will be out on the road promoting his album Surrender to Victory through June and July! Released in late March, the album is compelling and shows just how vital The Tongue is to the Australian hip-hop scene at present. His live shows are equally as electrifying as his tunes and with this album tour set to hit all areas of the country, punters can be expecting not only a thumpingly great set from The Tongue, but also from a great slew of supports as well.

Texas' RiFF RAFF to play first Australian shows at the end of May.

The eccentric member of the Texas rap community that is RiFF RAFF is set to make his Australian debut this month. Signed to Diplo's label Mad Decent, the rapper has been in the headlines most recently for being James Franco's inspiration for Alien, in the movie Spring Breakers.

The Red Paintings announce the "You're Not One of Them" Australian tour for July.

Known for riveting live shows wherever they happen to be playing, The Red Paintings are preparing to bring their "You're Not One of Them" tour to Australia! The tour announcement follows on from the release of the band's new single and accompanying video; the band are currently performing sold out gigs across the US and the UK, the Australia/LA band will be returning in June for a tour that feels well overdue for many fans.
