As CMJ continues its reign as New York City's largest music event, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA is thrilled to be working in close collaboration with the festival this year.
Following on from the successful introduction of SOUNDS AUSTRALIA at CMJ in 2009 and 2010, our momentum continues to build. This year, to complement our more traditional showcase activities and networking events, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA will present the exclusive exhibition and book launch of iconic Australian music photographer Tony Mott. The launch will include stripped back performances from rising Australian bands Cameras and Guineafowl, and Tony Mott will be on hand to share his incredible stories from the ‘road’ and signing limited edition copies of his book.
Having toured with the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, Silverchair, Bob Dylan and as a the official tour photographer for the Big Day Out music festival, Mott's portfolio is a who's who of Rock' n' Roll. His book “Rock N Roll Photography Is The New Trainspotting” also includes brilliant photos of Beastie Boys, Midnight Oil, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Blondie, Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, Silverchair, Iggy Pop, Michael Jackson, Michael Hutchence and many more.
Running for two weeks, the launch of Tony’s US solo exhibition will be the first opportunity for the international music industry to familiarise themselves with the many Australians heading over for CMJ Music Marathon 2011.
Exhibition Launch: Tuesday 18th October, 8.30pm - 10.30pm
Red Bull Space - 40 Thompson Street, NY 10013
