Sydney four-piece Tin Sparrow has announced they will be unveiling new single Hector Myola, at a special industry showcase at Spectrum, on Wednesday 16 November.
The last four months for Tin Sparrow’s Matt Amery, Mark Piccles, Dean McLeod and Sonja Van Hummel – have been eventful to say the least.
From a sold out debut EP launch in July, to constant national airplay, securing an international synch for TV show ‘Greys Anatomy’, and landing the main support spot for Husky’s national album tour in November.
To record their new EP (due out in early 2012), the quartet travelled to Cairns to work with Mark Myers of the recently disbanded The Middle East. The yet-to-be-titled release promises Tin Sparrow’s trademark vocal harmonies, but with a rawer, more organic sound. Matt Amery, lead singer and songwriter said, “I have always liked bands with great harmonies like Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, The Band, Crosby Stills Nash and Young.”
“Working with Mark was great, he has a really organic approach to recording which I think gives it more of a live vibe.”
Moving in more of a spaghetti western / alt-country direction than their indie-folk debut From The Sun, new single Hector Myola – the first to be taken from their forthcoming EP - immediately transports you to a time of gold rushes and fisticuffs.
Catch Tin Sparrow at the following Husky dates. Don’t miss Tin Sparrow’s Sydney single launch for Hector Myola at Spectrum, on Wednesday 16 November. Tickets through moshtix.
