
The 2011 lineup for the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues was announced last night, with an exciting program of international guests alongside the cream of Australia’s jazz and blues artists, in diverse musical collaborations and exclusive appearances across four days and nights, from Friday 28 October to Monday 31 October.
Festival artists include legendary blues guitarist and singer Jimmy D Lane (USA), Thirsty Merc's Phil Stack and Rai Thistlethwayte, trombonist Josh Redman (USA), brilliant cuban pianist Fabian Almazan, solo bass pioneer Barre Phillips (France), multi instrumentalist Peter Apfelbaum (USA), Barney McAll, Elixir featuring Katie Noonan<.b>, Paul Grabowsky, Gian Slater, Linda Oh; and in the Blues Marquee Chris Wilson and Ella Thompson with Paul Williamson's Hammond Blues Revue, Collard, Greens & Gravy and Jim Conway's Big Wheel.
Staged over the pre-Melbourne Cup Day weekend, the 2011 Festival program features more than 75 events at ten venues within the Wangaratta township. The much loved Festival is a destination event for lovers of top-draw music, the renowned gourmet food and wine of the district and the spectacular springtime displays of Victoria’s beautiful High Country.
