The four – piece from Menangle NSW haven’t stopped excelling since then, with the single reaching #57 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 and their recent signing to Ivy League Records.
The Rubens are currently in New York, recording their debut album with producer David Khane (who has worked with the likes of Regina Spektor, Paul McCartney, and The Strokes) and will make their way back to OZ in April to unveil their new album through a nationwide headline tour. FUSE WELCOMES RUSH HOUR RECORDINGS + KINDRED SPIRITS
Fuse music has announced their partnership with Dutch independent labels Kindred Spirits and Rush Hour recordings.
Despite being housed under the same rough, the two labels are quite different in their choice of repertoire. Kindred Spirit aims at securing a versatile blend of jazz, funk, world, disco releases from artists such as Sun Ra, Chico Mann, Jneiro Jarel. Releases for the next few months include those from afrobeat band Jungle By Night, and jazz musician Jimi Tenor.
Rush Hour on the other hand has focused its attention on independent electronic music. Some of the major players on the label include artists Carl Craig, Recloose, The Burell Brothers, and Anthony Shake Shakir. They’ve also re-issued artists on Chicago’s Trax Records and are set to do the same for NYC’s classic house label Nu Groove.
JET ANNOUNCE THE END
After nine years of success JET have decided to call it quits. Well known for catchy songs like “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” and “Roll Over DJ”, one of which brought them to worldwide attention when it was picked up for an Apple advert, the members have decided to go their separate ways owing to the fact that each member resides in a different country.
EMI has published the band’s farewell message "After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group. From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight.".
