2012 WAM HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED

Every year WAM inducts key players in the WA music industry into the WAM Hall of Fame. The inductees for 2012 have been announced – comedian Tim Minchin, the late hip hop artist Robert Hunter, and former CEO if WAM Paul Bodlovich will all be added to the hall of fame on Friday May 25th at the Charles Hotel in WA.

TONIGHT ALIVE NOMINATED FOR KERRANG UK AWARDS!

Australia’s Tonight Alive has received two nominations for the highly regarded Kerrang! Awards 2012. The band has been nominated for “Best International Newcomer” and female member Jenna has been nominated for the “Hottest Female” award. Winners will be announced on 7th June, 2012.

Since the album “What Are You So Scared Of” hit the streets in 2011, Tonight Alive’s fan base has triple both locally and internationally. The album secured #15 on the ARIA Charts and debuted at #37 in the US Heatseeker Charts.

EMI MUSIC PUBLISHING AUSTRALIA SIGNS TIMOTHY OMAJI AKA TIMOMATIC TO A WORLDWIDE PUBLISHING AGREEMENT

EMI Music Publishing Australia is proud to announce the addition of Timothy Omajii (Timomatic) to their roster.

Timomatic has gained impressive exposure from his appearances on tv shows “So You Think You Can Dance?” and “Australia’s Got Talent”, his debut single “Set it Off” achieved triple platinum in Australia and has been picked up by 28 countries across the world. His most recent single “If Looks Could Kill” is currently in the ARIA Singles Charts and has reached platinum after 5 weeks.
Timomatic’s debut album will be released worldwide in late 2012.

PERISHER SNOWY MOUNTAINS OF MUSIC ONLINE BUSKING COMPETITION

The Perisher Snowy Mountains of Music has announced a new competition for 2012 – The Snowies Online Busking Competition, which would see the winner performing their work at Australia’s only music festival in the snow!

All entries should be submitted by 28th May 2012, the winner will get the chance to play at the festival, 2 nights accommodation at the show, and a festival pass for their band, as well as national publicity.

AMRAP FUNDING CUT

Its been announced that funding for The Australian Music Airplay Radio Project has been discontinued.

AMRAP has had a considerable influence in the music industry over many years. In 2011 alone over 1,00 unsigned artists, 100 record labels, 1,500 broadcasters and 300 community radio stations used Amrap to get music to air and promote it online. The benefits and achievements of the project make it hard to believe that funding has been cut.

A NEW COMPETITION LAUNCHES TO CELEBRATE CUTTING EDGE CREATIVITY

The International Space Time Concerto has opened entries to undergraduates, postgraduates or international students, or alumni of any Australian tertiary institution, who have a keen interest in musicianship and cutting edge creativity.

The competition has two categories – the historical form of the concerto, and the innovation category.

The competition is looking for musicians from all genres inclusion virtuoso classical instrumentalists, orchestral musicians, jazz, contemporary, electronic and new media artists and more.

TRIPLE J’S TOM AND ALEXERCISE

Triple J presenters Tom and Alex have decided that a good musical work out is what the people of Sydney need. The pair will coordinate a 3 hour marathon show of booty shaking work out music, inspirational quotes, healthy diet tips, stretching technique and some daggy dancing in between.

Emma Louise has claimed two places in the International Songwriting Competition, with her song “Jungle” coming in secong in the Pop/Top 40 category and her track “1000 Sundowns” taking out the third spot in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category.
