The JD Set returns to Australia in November with Good Charlotte performing Weezer's The Blue Album

If there was ever any doubt that Mr. Jack knows how to throw a party, that was well and truly put to rest at last week’s JD Sets in Melbourne and Sydney in celebration of the man’s 161st birthday. Art vs Science and friends totally blew audiences away with their amazing re-workings of the music of legendary Aussie band ICEHOUSE, and the crowds were even further impressed when the man behind the 80s heroes, lead singer and composer Iva Davies, joined the ensemble onstage for the encore. The JD was flowing, the sing-a-longs were plentiful and the vibe was positively electric!

Now, Mr. Jack has never been one to rest on his laurels, and it’s for that very reason we’re backing up the birthday bash with another epic round of The JD Set! Jack Daniel’s are thrilled to be welcoming American pop-punksters Good Charlotte to the team as they headline our next set of shows in November.

Good Charlotte are undoubtedly one of the most successful and popular bands of this decade, sitting atop the throne of the pop-punk world having sold over 10 million albums globally and having forever engrained themselves in pop culture with their countless party anthems such as the aptly named The Anthem, Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous and from their fifth and latest album Cardiology the chart topping singles Like It’s Her Birthday, Sex On The Radio and Last Night.

However, as has become tradition for The JD Set, we’re adding a twist, with Benji, Joel, Billy, Paul and Dean set to bring to life a classic album by a band that has influenced their own music. Getting the treatment this time around is the debut album from one of the most popular bands of the nineties, Weezer. The album referred to as The Blue Album was released in 1994 and spawned the mainstream hits Undone – The Sweater Song and Buddy Holly, and has since sold over 3 million copies worldwide while often being touted as one of the most important albums of that pivotal era in music. Rolling Stone magazine listed The Blue Album at #297 in its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

With stats like that it will be interesting to see how the Madden twins Joel and Benji, and the rest of the Good Charlotte boys, go about recreating The Blue Album and making it their own, but one thing’s for sure these guys know how to party so it’s destined to be one hell of an evening! Especially because, with their own repertoire featuring so many anthems, it would be criminal to have Good Charlotte come to our shores and not bust out a few of their own beats, so you can also expect to hear some of their biggest hits at the gigs alongside their Weezer reinterpretations.

Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden enthused “As everyone knows we consider Australia a second home. We are excited to have the opportunity to not only come to our favourite country but also perform some of our favourite songs from one of our favourite bands.”

And it wouldn’t be a JD Set without some suitably Rockin’ support talent, so we’ve locked in one of Australia’s favourite new bands of recent years, Amy Meredith, to do their duty on that front in party-starting style.

The Amy Meredith boys are not a patient bunch. In the last 18 months the band have had a platinum single in Lying, sold over 30,000 albums, secured 3 ARIA award nominations, scored 2 top ten radio hits and played sold out shows around the country. Having spent the last 4 months writing and recording in LA, the band are getting ready to unleash new music on the world and will reveal full release plans in the coming weeks, with fans, radio and media able to hear a brand new single around the first week of November.

The JD Set will once again be showcasing just why Jack Daniel’s and music have been such a legendary combination since 1892, when he started his own Silver Cornet Band, so get plugged in to not only the live shows but also our recently revamped facebook hub, where you can check out onstage and backstage videos from gigs, exclusive photos galleries AND free music downloads.
