Novotel’s emblematic Times Square hotel in new York has gone through 3 months of complete renovation. MANLY’S MARKET LANE SATURDAYS (Sydney)

Manly’s Market Lane will be a cultural hub on Saturday nights from 6:30 – 10:30pm this Spring and Summer, started on September 28 and running until December 14th. Run by The Whole Creative, supported by Manly Council, Manly’s Market Lane will produce a series of open-air events including local businesses, musicians, creatives and food purveyors. The event aims to attract people who may not otherwise come to Manly, by providing a variety of ‘pop up’ style attractions. There will also be 10 artisan market stalls on rotation each week.

CHAMPIONS AT SYDNEY ROYAL SPRING FINE FOOD SHOW

A total of 28 championships and 811 medals were awarded to producers from all over Australia at the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food Show. Run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, the Show encompasses the Sydney Royal Olive Oil, Aquaculture, Deli Meat, Regional Food, branded Lamb and Branded Beef Competitions.

FRESH CATERING COLONIAL HIGH TEA (Sydney)

Fresh Catering’s Colonial High Tea, served at the Vaucluse House Teamrooms will continue throughout October as part of Good Food Month’s Ultimate High Tea Events. SYDNEY ROYAL BEER AND CIDER SHOW

The Sydney Royal Beer & Cider Show has uncovered Australia’s Champion Bottled Beer, Western Australia’s Nail brewing Australia. The Bassendean-based brewer won the title for their Clout Stout.

JUSTINE SCHOFIELD AT BEST FROM THE WEST FOOD FESTIVAL (Sydney)

Former MasterChef contestant and TV food personality Justin Schofield will serve up a line up of local chefs, producers and personalities at the 2013 ‘Best from the West’ food festival, as the festival MC. Now in its second year, Best from the West will be held on Sunday 27 Otober from 10am until 4pm at the Lizard Log Amphitheatre within the Western Sydney Parklands. NIGHT NOODLE MARKETS (Sydney)

Good Food Month is upon us, and the major highlight, Night Noodle Markets, kick off tonight in Hyde Park, with over 40 food and drink stalls. Once again, Rekorderlig Cider will be on site, serving nine flavours of the cider. Hyde Park North will be transformed for three weeks, with large crowds and the brightly lit Rekorderlig bar.

MARQUEE WINS NIGHTCLUB OF THE YEAR (Sydney)

WESTFIELD SYDNEY ‘DINNER TO GO’

Westfield Sydney has launched a new service, ‘Dinner To Go’. Between 5pm and 6:30pm, those who live and work around the CBD are able to order takeaway from some of Sydney’s best restaurants. Takeaway dishes such as Xiao Long Bao dumplings from Din Tai Fung, Akamaru Shinaji ramen from Ippudo and Crispy Pork Belly from Xanthi. The Citibank Dining Food Truck presented by EAT has hit the road for the first time, providing a taste of The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month throughout October. TOKYO SING SONG (Sydney)

Tokyo Sing Song is a unique space opening in Newtown, Sydney on October 11. It’s a late-night bar where monthly curators will take over the venue for performances that can happen any time of night. There’s a Tokyo theme, Japanese-inspired cocktails and a vending machin of underwear. From its opening through to mid-November, experimental artists and lighting designer Duckpond takes over the venue.

4 PINES BREWING COMPANY – BEER MIMIC FOOD CREATIONS (Sydney)

4 Pines Brewing Company will launch their collaborative Beer Mimics Food creations with Single Origin and the East Village Hotel in Balmain on Thursday 24 October as part of Sydney Craft Beer Week. Single Origin Roasters Head Barista Sean McManus and Coffee Buyer Wendy De Jong added espresso butter on banana bread, then added it to beer with the help of 4 Pines Head Brewer Andrew Tweddell. They produced a wheat style drop but instead of the usual grain recipe, they added 16kg of crumbled banana bread and a smattering of Brazilian coffee beans at each stage of the brewing process. They also turned Pig & Fig Pizza into a beer, and these are the two beers to be launched later this month, with launch events in Manly at 4 Pines Brew Pub and East Village Hotel in Balmain.

MARBLE BAR TURNS 120 (Sydney)

Hilton Sydney’s Marble Bar is celebrating 120 years of history by introductin a signature 120 Cocktail and offering live music every day throughout the month of October with no cover charge. During the month, bartenders will bring back forgotten classic cocktails like the Million Dollar Cocktail. In addition, and by popular demand from its social media followers, Marble Bar will be giving away 120 beers throughout the month and will host a Gatsby themed party on the last Saturday in October.

PIPER-HEIDSIECK SPRING CARNIVAL BAR AT THE BELLEVUE HOTEL (Sydney)

The new Piper-Heidsieck Spring Carnival Bar at the Bellevue Hotel in Paddington will launch on October 16. Bringing the fun of the Spring Racing Carnival to Paddington, the bar will host special events for key carnival dates, including the 400 Cutlet Lunch on Friday October 11, A Ladies Luncheon on Saturday October 26, and Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday November 5. Menus will reflect fresh spring produce paired with Piper-Heidsieck bubbles.

MOET & CHANDON SPRING CHAMPIONS STAKES (Sydney)

The Moet & Chandon Spring Champions Stakes Day will take place on Saturday 12th October at Royal Randwick Racecourse. HOME-GROWN HONEY FROM ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN SYDNEY

An exotic home-grown honey brand from beehives at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney will be commercially available at the Garden Shop next week, with the income going towards plant conservation. In each of the five beehives at the Garden, there are at least 80 000, and it’s important to contribute sustainably when bee populations around the world have been dwindling. Each beehive has the capacity to produce at least 30 or 40 kilograms of honey.

AYATANA AND LA SVOLTA HAMPTON (Melbourne)

Ayatana on Melbourne’s Chapel Street and Italian restaurant La Svolta Hampton on Hampton Street have both been awarded Dimmi Awards for September 2013. Ayatana has been selected as a Top Rated Thai Restaurant, and La Svolta Hampton has been awarded in the Best For Families category.

PULLMAN MELBOURNE ALBERT PARK RENOVATION

Pullman Melbourne Albert Park has opened its doors following a multimillion dollar renovation of its 169 guestrooms, executive lounge, meeting spaces and public areas.
