The Foo Fighters are coming to Australia and New Zealand.

As they ramp up excitement for their new album Sonic Highways, thanks to the HBO series of the same name, the album’s opening song – and subject of the series’ first episode “Something From Nothing” has been the subject of a Frontier Touring hashtag: #SOMETHINGNOTHINGOZNZ.

And now there is this, a webpage devoted to the hashtag and the “official clues” which of course leads to only one conclusion: The Foo Fighters are touring Australia and New Zealand. The dates haven’t been announced but Frontier are inviting you to submit your own “clues” for your chance to win the first two tickets to the tour! You can also submit yourself to be on the tour waiting list – which given the likelihood of a Frontier presale, we highly recommend.

Frontier got similarly cryptic ahead of the announcement of the Dave Grohl touring machine that was Them Crooked Vultures, which took place back in January 2010. A few rumoured dates are floating around for the tour. One will see them touch down on a similar schedule to what would have been the Big Day Out dates, others closer to April. Either way, we’re getting the Fooies back to Australia, and that’s good enough for us.

On a related note, the last time Dave was in Australia, touring stadiums, he promised the next time they were in Australia, they’d make sure they played some “shitty little pubs” along the way. We sincerely hope they stay true to that promise.

Sonic Highways screens on GO! hours after airing in the US, 4:30pm Saturdays. The album will be released on November 10th worldwide. Stay tuned to the AU for more Foo Fighters tour updates.
