The Fauves to launch new album in Melbourne

The Fauves are returning to the playing field with their forthcoming release (and 10th studio album!) "Japanese Engines" out Friday November 11 through Shock Records.

To celebrate this milestone, The Fauves will be launching Japanese Engines at the Northcote Social Club that same evening, supported by Melbourne’s I, A Man and special guest.

The Fauves remain one of Australia’s most underrated bands, with their own brand of guitar pop featuring infinitely subtle wry, humourous lyrics. Forming in 1988, the four-piece took their name from the short-lived art movement of the early 1900s, with ‘fauve’ being the French word for ‘wild animal’.

Releasing their debut EP in 1989 and following two years later with the ‘Scissors Within’ EP and ‘The Tight White Ballhugger’ EP in 1992, The Fauves quickly gained critical acclaim and a cult following. Further full-length releases and extensive touring led The Fauves to start experiencing the commercial recognition they deserved.

Catch The Fauves in their only show for the rest of 2011, and have a couple beers to celebrate the International Year of the Older Person in Rock
