Festival "Reclaim The Streets" is set to protest lockout laws in Sydney this Sunday, September 13th

Since the drastic lockout laws have been put in place by the State Government, thousands of Sydney sider's have felt the sting of the highly regulated and restricting night life. This Sunday September 13th, Reclaim The Streets will give the chance for thousands of protesters to gather in Hyde Park to take a activist stand against the laws.

Reclaim The Streets spokesman Jack London spoke of the decay that suburbs surrounding the city are currently experiencing; “The lockout laws haven’t reduced alcohol-related violence. They’ve just moved the problem to Newtown and crippled our city’s nighttime economy”. The introduction of the 1.30 AM lockout and 10 PM cut off for alcohol purchase not only impacted Sydney's night culture but further influenced late workers and local businesses. London further states that the festival aims to tackle the influence of money on local and state policy.

This free family-friendly event will kick off at the Hyde Park fountain at 1 PM, equipped with a multi-stage featuring DJs and local producers that will spin everything from dub step to funk across eight sound systems.
