After the much hyped Soundwave Revolution's second announcement was delayed and delayed, the Soundwave camp was relatively quiet for a company that prides itself on discussions with the general public (including the vocal and sometimes blunt Twitter-ati/head of company, AJ Maddah). The result was an official cancellation of the festival, blamed on the pulling out of a as-then unannounced second headline act (who was, depending who you ask, was Aerosmith, Weezer, or Limp Bizket). This resulted in a massive fallout on official forums, Facebook page, and comment sections of many news sites; but thankfully, the mea culpa from the Soundwave team has arrived.
It's been stated that the punk/emo contingent of the cancelled Revolution event has been formed into a mini festival called Counter Revolution. The line up and locations follow:

AJ Maddah has stated that a lot of the metal/hard rock acts will have smaller club shows around the same time as Soundwave Revolution was slated (apparently announced on the 24th August), with Sum 41, Steel Panther, Reliant K and Danzig possibly having their own headline tours later in the year. Alice Cooper has also kept his current Australian touring schedule, but no word on the cities that have missed out on what were previously sideshows.
Some of the acts across all genres have been moved to the Soundwave 2012 line up, including The Used, Gojira, Hole, Devin Townsend, Sisters Of Mercy, Hellyeah and the Black Veil Brides. They join the announced lineup of Trivium, CKY, Machine Head, Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Forever The Sickest Kids, The Smoking Hearts, Madina Lake, Dashboard Confessional, Framing Hanley, Heroes For Hire, Watain, Times Of Grace, The Dangerous Summer and In This Moment.
