Only some hours ago in Berlin, music fans saw out the first official Lollapalooza event in their city. Across three stages at the Tempelhof Airport, Muse, Tame Impala and Martin Garrix brought 50,000 plus people together to celebrate the end of a weekend of great music, perfect weather and a successful festival line up.

Earlier sets saw the likes of Wolf Alice, Brand New and Coasts perform, while Stereophonics, Clean Bandit and Belle & Sebastian each stood out in the later part of the afternoon. Run The Jewels made their debut appearance in Germany at Lollapalooza, with their heavy hip-hop beats thudding out through the crowd of enthusiastic fans donned in their merchandise from the onset.

Sam Smith, battling through a cold, performed one of the final sets on Main Stage 1, demonstrating how strong his vocals can still hold up despite sickness. For festival founder Perry Farrell who was also on site to provide some well-received DJing skills and general good times, Lolla's first foray into the European market could not have gone better, music wise. Muse brought a huge show to Main Stage 1, their first following their recent sold out club show in Camden off the back of announcing their 2016 World Tour for Drones. Not to be outshone however, Tame Impala and Martin Garrix each held their own on the Alternative and Perry's stages respectively, sending a fusion of musical styles up into the night air.

With Lollapalooza Berlin already set to go ahead for another round in 2016 (September 10th & 11th), this event has set a great standard already.

Stay tuned to the AU for more coverage from the festival, still to come!
