MasterCard is excited to announce the 2nd show of the Debit MasterCard Priceless Music series for 2011 with another must-see performance, this time by UK rock outfit, Kasabian.
The 2011 series first kicked off in May with Perth’s own Birds of Tokyo, rocking out against the unforgettable backdrop of Sydney Harbour’s Cockatoo Island, and MasterCard is sharing the love this second time around and taking the excitement south to Melbourne at the Peninsula, Docklands.
With their 4th studio album, Velociraptor!, due for release on 16 September, Kasabian have created a monster. One which they say will inspire awe in believers, strike fear into the hearts of enemies and bestride the world like a colossus - only fitting, then, that it’s named after one of the most fearsome creatures to ever walk the earth. Fans have already been given a taste of things to come with the first album track, 'Switchblade Smiles', causing waves online – the first single 'Days Are Forgotten' is expected to have a tsunami like effect on the musical landscape when it is serviced to radio on Friday, 29 July.
Kasabian’s last album, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, was a psychedelic masterpiece which has sold a million copies worldwide and confirmed the band’s place at British rock’s highest table. As well as providing the new decade with its first de facto festival anthem with 'Fire', WRPLA also brought some impressive mantelpiece bling. Voted Best Album by Q and nominated for the Mercury Prize, the band also won Best British Group at The Brits, Best Album at the NME Awards and a host of other nominations. “The fact that we got kind of big off that record is amazing,” explains the band’s songwriter/guitarist Serge Pizzorno. “West Ryder was our Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake. Everything about it was perfect. But we’ve done that now and it’s time to move on. We’ve upped the stakes.”
The 2010 Debit MasterCard Priceless Music Series shows, which featured heavy-weights Pendulum, Katy Perry and Good Charlotte, were some of the most talked about gigs on the music calendar with the announcement of the Kasabian exclusive show, 2011 is set shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.
