Jessica Mauboy, Katie Noonan's Elixir Trio & Guineafowl to perform at ASTRA Awards

Guests at the 9th Annual ASTRA Awards are in for a treat with musical performances scheduled by Australia’s celebrated R&B sensation Jessica Mauboy, powerful vocalist Katie Noonan’s Elixir Trio and up and coming indie artist Guineafowl.

The ASTRA Awards recognise excellence in subscription television, and music has always been a big part of this thanks to the breadth of musical content available on STV on networks such as Channel [V], MTV, Country Music Channel and MAX. As such, incredible musical performances have always been a highlight of the awards night.

Jessica Mauboy has had incredible year of success; since releasing her second studio album Get ‘Em Girls in late 2010 the album has been certified gold and features the hit singles 'Saturday Night' and 'What Happened To Us'. The ASTRA Awards will mark the first time Jessica has performed her brand new single 'Inescapable', which is on radio now (digital release: July 15, 2011).

“I am so excited to perform my new single Inescapable for the first time at the ASTRA Awards. There are so many pivotal music channels and programs on subscription television; I’m thrilled to be able to treat the audience with this exclusive performance.” - Jessica Mauboy

Katie Noonan is undoubtedly one of Australia's most beautiful female vocalists. This triple Aria winning and 6 times platinum selling artist first came to our attention as the angel-voiced songstress of her band george and she has since had a huge solo career spanning the genres of Opera, Jazz, Pop, Rock and even Dance! The ASTRA Awards audience will be treated to a very special performance from her sublime trio Elixir, with their new song 'Snapshot' from their upcoming album first seed ripening (out August 5 through ABC Music).

"We are thrilled to be performing at the ASTRA Awards this year. It will be a wonderful night celebrating great Australian achievements and we are really looking forward to sharing our new music with you" - Katie Noonan

Bondi based musician Guineafowl, and his band of the same name, have been one of 2011’s big success stories thanks to their debut album Hello Anxiety. The album described as ‘a translation of Guineafowl’s life stories’, has gained quite a following among critics and music fans alike. In advance of their performance at the upcoming Splendour in the Grass, Guineafowl will preview a new track from their forthcoming album.

“This has been an amazing year for us so far and performing new material at the ASTRA Awards is going to be yet another high point.” Guineafowl

Following the star-studded show, guests will dance the night away to the sounds of DJs Danny Clayton and Jane Gazzo from Channel [V] at the official after party on site at Sydney Theatre. Danny and Jane are also finalists in the Favourite Personality Male and Female categories and Danny will be presenting on the night.
