LeSuits- 'Stuck in the Mud' Single Launch

Torrential octet LeSuits from Brisbane bring forth their debut single, "Stuck in the Mud". The new single is said to capture the chaotic fun of their live show in a three minute musical burst which comes as a pleasant shock to the senses.

In correspondence with their new single being released in the next few weeks, LeSuits are gettin' their crazy on to get this show on the road by September 26 at the Brightside along with supporting acts; Sydney Chunk Ninjas, Shanghai, Fat Susan and Weightless in Orbit. Alongside these crazy acts will be a whole heap of other hosts to get the crowd going! Come and check it out to experience the hype of Brisbane's best live act.

Katchafire performs at The Gov this November

Reggae New Zealand favourites Katchafire return for yet another performance at The Gov just in time for summer on Sunday, November the 2nd. Katchafire are renowned for their fresh sound of Jamaican/Rastafarian music which is said to connect with the Maori culture of New Zealand. For the last decade every performance has reflected the true passion of the band and that surely has come across judging by the bands prominent fan base!

The trip across the Tasman by the Hamilton natives is usually one of the best gigs of the year as the group is never anything but short of energy. The music is known to bring the crowd to a high like never before and the band will be showcasing their debut single "Down With You". This gig is definitely not one to miss by lovers of reggae and those who want to experience something totally new!

This September, come celebrate at the Title Track BIGSOUND Launch Party with Visions! Headlining acts will be Brisbane band Velociraptor and New South Wale's band Deep Sea Arcade! Other acts performing will be The Love Junkies, Moses Gunn Collective, Babaganouj, Edward R.

The Skatalites 50th Anniversary Tour comes to The Gov!

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, The Skatalites return to The Gov on Wednesday December the 10th for a show like no other. After 50 years, it's rare that a band can boast about this long time achievement but then again it's been said that The Skatalites are more then just a band. Made up of a collective of some of Jamaica's most skilled musicians, these guys pretty much defined the sound of ska in the 50's and 60's and have been a huge influence on so many bands throughout multiple generations. Being a main influence for Bob Marley, it's safe to say that from this band has inspired and shaped many great others.

Native Tongue throw a massive party at BIGSOUND!

After ten years as an independent music publisher, Native Tongue have decided to throw a massive party at BIGSOUND to celebrate! On Wednesday the 10th of September, the event will take place over the Brightside Carpark (JBL Live Outdoor Stage) from 5PM - 8PM. The event will showcase five awesome young artists; Melbourne's four-piece band Apes which were descovered on Triple J, High School formed band from New Zealand, Bonjah, Sydney's Electric-Pop duo Olympic Ayres, Sydney three piece ensemble Tin Sparrow and New Zealand's alternative country artist Marlon Williams.

Fortunately, Coopers will be supplying Coopers Pale Ale and Thatchers Gold Cider, and there will be plenty of food including bratwursts and vegan hot dogs put on the BBQ so don't stress about dinner!

The Smith Street Band announce national tour!

Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band have just announced a national tour to support their third album, Throw Me In The River. The tour will be heading into SA on November the 20th at The Gov with the helping hand of New Jersey indie-folk band The Front Bottoms and English comrades Apologies, I Have None.

After a successful stint with Violent Soho on their sold out tour earlier this year, The Gov can’t wait to have these lads back!

The 1975 announce Adelaide show!

Due to huge demand by fans and having sold out almost all shows, The 1975 have fortunately enough decided to add an Adelaide show to their January tour. Huge demand via social media and even an online petition would have contributed to the decision made by the band to add Adelaide to the list of shows. The all ages show will take place at The Thebarton Theatre on Saturday, January 10th. This will be the band's first headline show in South Australia and fans couldn't be more pleased!

Shihad performs live at The Gov this November

Shihad have just released one of their finest albums yet and will perform it in full, live at The Gov on Thursday, November 6. The latest album, FVEY is their first album in four years, yet is their ninth studio album in all. With a stream of positive reviews, this week FVEY has landed in the Top 10 ARIA Album Chart and is debuting at #1 in New Zealand. Fans and musicians have deemed this album Shihad's finest work in over a decade!

Shihad will be performing with supporting acts; High Tension and Cairo Knife Fight. This gig is surely not one to be missed by all fans and rock enthusiasts!

The Bloodpoets launch The Grand Machine at the New Globe Theatre

The Bloodpoets released their debut album The Grand Machine just this past August and it peaked on the Australian iTunes rock charts, coming in at number 13 and made an appearance in the overall top 100 Australian Charts. This album was quite a while in the making, which allowed the band to produce a raw, high-energy quality sound. The album has been said to encapsulate the essence of their live shows and the songs on the album are a mix of light and dark while still maintaining catchy riffs. Overall the album creates a loose story line, yet each song can still be enjoyed individually.

Catch them on Friday September 5, performing at their home ground at The New Globe Theatre with indie beauties and BIGSOUND Triple J Unearthed winners WAAX and Street Pieces, who are fresh off winning a spot on Caxton St Seafood Festival, thanks to Triple M.

Mick Blood benefit gig 'Bloodstock' coming to Brisbane

Presented by 4ZZZ, Scenestr,Zesty Enterprises & Bam Bam Management comes 'Bloodstock': A Mick Blood Benefit Gig. After recently moving to Newcastle, Lime Spiders frontman, Mick Blood was tragically brutally beaten at a local nightspot, which left him with severe head injuries. He is now in hospital on the long road to recovery which involves numerous treatments and rehabilitation.

This Brisbane benefit show is to aid Mick's Support Act, fund which is being held at Roma Street's Beetle Bar on Sunday September the 28th. Friends and former bandmates, including Screamin' Stevie, Dr. Bombay, The Busymen, The Counterfeit Umbrellas, The Pretty Fingers, Hill 60, Team Utopia and Brisbane's own burlesque beauty, Miss Red Devotchkin will be there to support the night.

Tickets are available at the door for $10. All proceeds will go directly to Mick's Suppor Act fund.

Lowrider perform final show in Adelaide!

Australian band Lowrider will be performing their final gig on November 21st before an indefinite break off. After a prosperous 10 years together producing foul albums together, over 1000 live performances and an ARIA nomination it's safe to say this band has given it all it could.

Lowrider will be hosting an epic farewell show that will encompass tracks from all four albums throughout the decade. The show will be performed at Adelaide’s HQ and the group invite their fans from around Australia to their home town for the last hurrah.

C.W. Stoneking announces album tour at The Gov

To support the release of his first album in six whole years, C.W. Stoneking will be traveling across the country, stopping in at The Gov on Friday, November 21. The album titled Gon' Boogaloo will be available on October 17th, produced by King Hokum Records/Caroline Australia.

The previous album released by C.W Stoneking, Jungle Blues, won an ARIA Blues and Roots Award which saw his performance sellout shows across Europe, Australia and the UK. Fans are much anticipating Stoneking's performance and debut album as they are expecting a lot based on his last success!

Ball Park Music adds extra Adelaide show to the ‘Trippin' The Light Fantastic’ tour!

Following a stand out performance at Splendour that had Ball Park Music hittin' the spotlight, the band are happy to announce a second Adelaide show on October 21 at The Gov as part of their national 'Trippin' The Light Fantastic Tour'. The band have also had another secret up their sleeves which they have recently unveiled, the announcement of new international album deals ahead of their upcoming European tour. Both announcements have led to very happy fans!

The 'Trippin' The Light Fantastic Tour' will see the Aussie band perform in theatres all across Australia from September to November this year, performing songs off their successful chart-topping album Puddinghead alongside their most popular hits. The first Adelaide show at The Gov had sold out so quickly that the band had to schedule a second show now on October 21 and are on sale now.

Punkfest and 4ZZZ present 'The Return of The Joint Effort'

Punkfest and 4ZZZ presents 'The Return of The Joint Effort'. The time has come to take a blast from the past when 4ZZZ was young, providing fans in Brisbane with the best value for money with, "The Joint Effort".

Traditionally held at the UQ campus refectory during the late 70's, this event is a staple for the blossoming live music scene Brisbane enjoys today. “The Return of The Joint Effort” will be held on Saturday November 8 2014, upstairs at the Hamilton Hotel, Kingsford Smith Drive, Hamilton. Triple J unearthed band, The Con & Liar's announce their debut album launch for Deserters. The album features the energy and soul of a live performance and showcases the band's creative flow. The album is lucky enough to deliver an array of the band's diverse sounds throughout the tracks and this album launch is definitely not one to be missed.
