The sixth annual Raise the Roof is coming back to the Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda this year, featuring an array of local upcoming artists and internationally acclaimed hip-hop performers. Reason will host the affair, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday July 20. Headlining the hip-hop showcase will be the widely successful Urthboy, while also featured on the bill are Resin Dogs, Briggs, Loose Change, Purpose, Onesixth, Dr Flea, Eloji, Dibe, M-Phazes and Slap618.

40-years of Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy

Yep, it’s been 40-years since Led Zeppelin’s hugely influential album Houses of the Holy hit the record-store shelves. To celebrate its coming-of-middle-age, the Yarraville Club will be hosting a special event featuring some of Australia’s finest musicians performing the whole thing in full! Joining forces to create something of a supergroup for the occasion are: Ash Naylor (of Even), Danny Leo (of King of the North), Stephen Hadley (of the Paul Kelly Band), Bruce Haymes (of the Renee Geyer Band) as well as guest vocalists Adam Cole, Pat Carmody, Fiona Lee Maynard and Fiona Lee Maynard.

Benny Walker Band comes to the Toff in Town to bid farewell before forthcoming trip to Canada.

Echuca based performer Benny Walker and his band are popping down to Melbourne after a huge six-months on the road promoting new album Sinners and Saints. On the brink of a massive 20-date tour throughout Canada, Benny will play the Toff in Town on Sunday July 14th with special guests Damon Smith & The Quality Lightweights.

Loon Lake and Strange Talk to take the stage for Speaker TV’s Live@HTC.

Billed as a campaign to highlight the new HTC One’s ‘strong focus on music’, Speaker TV is presenting a bunch of shows around Australia featuring swarms of internationally acclaimed homegrown talent. The Melbourne event will take place at the Hi-Fi on June 27th, and is set to be a good night with Loon Lake and Strange Talk set to perform as double-headliners. Special guests on the night will be promising local band Hey Geronimo.

Super Unsigned Music Festival at the Corner Hotel – featuring Taylor Sheridan, The Aoede Project and more.

The Corner Hotel is hosting yet another awesome event showcasing the hordes of local unsigned artists out there on the Melbourne music scene. On the cards for this festival on Thursday July 11th are a range of artists including Taylor Sheridan bringing his engaging pop/ rock performance to the stage; the mesmerising gals of The AOEDE Project; rock trio Dice as well as I’ll be an Indian, The Sand Dollars, Josh Cashman, Nikhail, Hemera and more.

Bon Scott of AC/DC’s would-be birthday bash!

To honour what would have been the great Bon Scott’s 67th birthday, the Espy is hosting a party, appropriately dubbed ‘Bon’s Bday Bash’! The best part? It’s free entry! Artists who have proclaimed to be inspired by the great Melbourne legends AC/DC are set to leave audiences ‘thunderstruck’ on a night of sweaty, no-fuss rock ‘n’ roll. There’ll be performances from all-female AC/dSHE, Melbourne’s Massive, London imports Dead City Ruins and ‘blistering’ rock n rollers Black Aces.

Flap! Taking their jazzy, gypsy, folk-ish tunes to the south-side of the city.

Stepping away from their regular haunts of Melbourne inner-north, the wonderful Flap! are poised to take their original, charming and time-turning performance to the Flying Saucer Club on Friday June 28. For those who haven’t had the opportunity to see this five-piece band of all class, brass, and old-fashioned jazzy-groove, now’s the time! They’ve been jammin’ around the festival circuit for a good six years now, and here’s hoping there are many more years to come.

Yelawolf to perform headline show in Melbourne

Coming to the country to support homegrown hip-hop duo Bliss N Eso, Alabama’s Yelawolf has announced two intimate headline shows in both Melbourne and Sydney. Having built a pretty steady international fanbase since the release of 2009’s Trunk Muzik mixtape and being signed to Eminem’s Shady Records, this is only Yelawolf’s second time in the country. Tipped to be a sell-out, Melbournian’s looking for a hit of some Southern rap can see Yelawolf at the Corner Hotel on Monday July 8th.

Gilby Clarke (USA) to bring solo-show to Australia

The man who was a member of Guns N Roses and who has played with the likes of MC5, Nancy Sinatra, Heart and Rockstar Supernova, Gilby Clarke is heading down to Melbourne for his first ever Australian tour in solo-musician/ acoustic mode!
The gig will take place at the Northcote Social Club on July 7th, with special guest Paul Woseen of The Screaming Jets.

Masters of cinematic horror Goblin to play one special show in Melbourne

Performing their horror classics "Suspiria", "Dawn of the Dead", "Deep Red" and "Roller", Italian prog musicians are heading to Melbourne on July 14th. Presented by 3RRR & Princpal Entertainment, you can bet the show will feature an array of spine-tingling tunes featuring in the soundtrack to a generation of horror films. Goblin’s shows have been acclaimed to bring celluloid nightmares to life with an audio visual feast, ensuring a pretty unique experience. Miles Brown of The Night Terrors will be a special guest at the event to take place at Billboard the Venue.
