Cat Power announce fourth and final Melbourne show

Cat Power has announced a fourth and final show in Melbourne this February!

Cat Power will be performing at the Thornbury Theatre on Friday February 7. The two hour performance will start at 8pm with no support. Tickets are on sale now from www.thornburytheatre.oztix.com.au/ starting from $55.60.

Charles Jenkins and The Zhivagos launch new album

In 2011 a grant was received from the Australian Council to record an album based on the theme of water. The result is Charles Jenkins and The Zhivagos new 11 track album Too Much Water in the Boat.

The first taste of the album comes from lead single "7 Creeks (The Crossdresser Steve Hart)", about member of the Kelly Gang, Steve Hart. To celebrate album, set for release on February 17, Charles Jenkins and The Zhivagos will be launching the album at Northcote Social Club. To be one of the first to hear the album live head to the Northcote Social Club on Sunday March 2.

Special guests on the night are Suzannah Espie and The Last Word.

Mick Turner launches new album!

Mick Turner will be launching his new album this Friday! His new album Don’t Tell the Driver will be launched at Northcote Social Club on Friday February 7. Mick will be performing with a full band, with support on the night coming from New War and The Ancients. Make sure to head to the Northcote Social Club this Friday to catch Mick Turner performing live.

Ash Grunwald returns to The Espy for an intimate solo show.

After touring to support his album Gargantua and touring with Scott and Andy from The Living End, Ash Grunwald is returning to The Espy!

Lachlan Ewbank joins Heads of Charm at The Tote

This Valentine’s Day Eve sees Heads of Charm performing at The Tote! It will be the first show for drummer Lachlan Ewbank, guitarist and vocalist for Damn Terran. So make sure to head to The Tote on Thursday February 13.

Also performing on the night will be O Little Blood, OHMS and Low Fly Incline. Entry is $8 with doors opening at 8:30pm.

Liam Gerner announces month long residency in Melbourne

In March troubadour songwriter Liam Gerner will be performing a string of residency shows on Australia’s East Coast, including dates in Melbourne! Liam will be performing at Labour In Vain every Thursday in March – 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th. Liam will be showcasing his debut album Land of No Roads.

So make sure to catch Liam Gerner live this March. Best of all, entry to all gigs is completely free!

Liz Stringer to play Folk Alliance International USA

Australian songwriter Liz Stringer will make her first appearance in the USA this February as part of the Folk Alliance International (FAI) Conference in Kansas City. Stringer has been invited to appear at the conference’s official showcase, a prestigious event which offers a platform to emerging and established performers to launch their music into the North American folk and festival scene.

In support of the trip, Liz Stringer will be performing a special fundraiser show at The Yarra Hotel on Thursday February 13. She will be joined by Tim Keegan on bass and John Bedggood on fiddle. Special guest on the night will be David Garnham.

28 Days to launch new single in February

Melbourne’s 28 Days are back with their latest single “Amber Afternoons.”

This brand new single will be launched on Saturday February 15. So to catch 28 Days live make sure to head to Ding Dong Lounge on February 15.

Elvis Costello and The Imposters confirm Melbourne show

Following a public outcry after the announcement of his upcoming Australian tour schedule, Elvis Costello has announced he will be performing in Melbourne this April. Elvis Costello and The Imposters will be performing at Hamer Hall on Thursday April 17.

The night will see audiences being taken through the Costello musical history, with a selection of songs from the past, present and future to be performed. Special guest on the night will be Thelma Plum .
