Aaradhna heads to Australia for first performance in over a year

29 year old New Zealand soul singer Aaradhna has been busy touring America, and will now be heading to Australia for her fist performance in over a year.

The performance comes after the US remix of “Wake Up” featuring Common, and winning the prestigious “Album of the Year” at the 48th Annual New Zealand Music Awards.

In support of the deluxe edition of her new album Treble & Reverb, Aaradhna will be performing at The Espy on Saturday January 11.
So make sure to grab a copy of the album and head to The Espy to see Aaradhna perform with a full live band this January.

Liam Gerner single launch

Liam Gerner will be performing a special show in Melbourne to launch his new single "Mother Nature’s Runway Girl". The single comes from Liam’s debut album Land of No Roads. To see Liam Gerner perform live head to The Yarra Hotel on Saturday December 21. There will be no cover charge on the night.

Meat Katie takes over the Espy decks on Christmas

Londonder Mark Pember – aka Meat Katie - will be performing a special free gig this Christmas at the Espy. To date, Meat Katie has released three albums, with the fourth album due out in May 2014. So if you want a day of entertainment, head to the Espy on Christmas day to see Meat Katie. Best of all, entry is completely free!

Davey Lane adds new Melbourne date to tour

After touring the east coast throughout September and October, Davey Lane has announced an additional Melbourne date to the tour. Davey Lane and his band will be heading to The Workers Club on January 10.

Davey will also be giving away a special live bootleg EP Field Recordings 2: Live On The Internets, which features previously unreleased songs. This giveaway will happen exclusively through his facebook page www.facebook.com/daveylanemusic. 2014 will see Davey prepare to release his debut full length album after the release of his EP last September The Good Borne of the Bad Tymes. So to see Davey live before the new album comes out head to The Workers Club on January 10.

Smith Street Soul Train All-Star Christmas Extravaganza

Some of Melbourne’s finest soul voices are coming together to celebrate this December. The night will feature Shirly Davis, Jude Perl, Florelie Escano, Paul Slattery, and Chelsea Wilson, as well as the 12 piece Smith Street Soul Train band. The artists will be playing two sets of classic and current soul tunes. There will also be a live film clip being shot on the day, so if you want to get on YouTube, now is your chance.

Make sure to head to the Grace Darling on Tuesday December 17 from 8:30pm. Entry is $8.

Heads of Charm new release and launch show

Heads of Charm have a new release! First Show is three tracks from the bands first performance at Public Bar in April this year. You can get a copy from http://neumusak.bandcamp.com/releases . The album is a ‘name your price’ download, so you can get it for free if you want.

To celebrate the release, Heads of Charm will be launching it in Melbourne on Thursday 19th December. Special guests on the night will be Naked Bodies and Fraudband. So to catch Heads of Charm, head to The Old Bar on Thursday 19th December. Doors open at 8:30pm, entry is $8.

Johnny Marr announces second Melbourne show

Due to overwhelming demand, Johnny Marr has announced a second date in Melbourne this January. Johnny Marr will be performing at the Northcote Social Club on Sunday January 5, after his January 4 gig at the Corner Hotel sold out.

Tickets are on sale now. With gigs in Melbourne and Sydney both sold out tickets won’t last long. Make sure to get yours while they last.

Hugo Race and the True Spirit live appearance in Melbourne

Since launching in 1989, Hugo Race and his band have released fourteen albums, including their latest release Live in Wolow Jail, from a maximum security prison in Poland.

Now Hugo Race will be making a rare live appearance, performing at The Spotted Mallard on Saturday December 21. Support on the night will come from The Infants. So to see Hugo Race and the current True Spirit line up - Michelangelo Russo, Bryan Colechin, Nico Mansy and Brett Poliness, head to The Spotted Mallard on December 21.

Nat Dunn Fools Fate EP Melbourne launch

2013 has been a great year for Nat Dunn, which included being a finalist for the Queensland Music Award Blues and Roots category, and secured an Official Bigsound Showcase.

Nat has just returned from supporting Busby Marou, and will now perform her second headline gig in Melbourne. Nat will be performing at The Workers Club on Thursday December 19. Support on the night will come from The Putbacks and a yet to be announced special guest.

Halcyon Drive Summer show at The Espy

After a massive year of live shows, including playing at the Halloween party at the HiFi and opening a sold out performance at The Workers Club for We Are People, Halcyon Drive will be performing at The Espy this January.

Halcyon Drive will be heading to the studio with producer Steven Schram for a collaboration on their next single. So make sure to head to The Espy on Thursday January 9 to catch Halcyon Drive live. Best of all, entry is completely free.

The Workers Club Soul-A-Go-Go New Year's Eve Party

This New Years Eve the biggest soul and funk party will be at The Workers Club. Performing will be PBS presenters Vince Peach, Richie 1250, Miss Goldie, Pierre Baroni, DJ Manchild and very special guests Andrew Young and Zach Rampage.

Maxi, Nussy and Mo will be hitting The Workers Club this December.

These three original Melbourne based female artists will be delivering diverse and exciting pop performances. The night will also see Mo release her first single and video clip for "Beautiful Eye". So for a night full of entertainment, head to The Workers Club on Wednesday December 18.

Caravãna Sun album launch at The Espy

Gypsy-ska rockers Caravãna Sun have just finished working on their second independent album AYA. The album includes singles “Took the World” and "GAIA". After launching the album in Sydney in November, the band is heading to Melbourne to showcase their new material.

Archie Roach to play free concert during Footscray Community Arts Centre’s Wominjeka 2014

Legendary singer-songwriter Archie Roach is set to play a free concert during Footscray Community Arts Centre’s Wominjeka 2014.

This is Roach’s second appearance at the Wominjeka Festival, after he performed with the Black Arm Band during the 2012 Festival. So to see Archie Roach live head to the Main Stage of Riverside Lawn at Footscray Community Arts Centre on Saturday 18 January at 7pm.

Fractures announces Melbourne show

After his debut live show completely sold out, Fractures has announced a new headline show in early 2014.

Fractures will return to Melbourne to perform at The Toff in Town on Saturday January 25. Fractures' debut single “Twisted” became the most played track on triple j unearthed at the beginning of the year, and current single “Cadence” has received over 98,000 soundcloud streams.

So head to The Toff in Town to catch Fractures live.

Harmony release details of new album and announce new gigs

After releasing an AIR nominated debut album and three 7” singles, Melbourne’s Harmony will be releasing their long awaited second album Carpetbombing on February 7 2014.

If you can’t wait until then, Harmony will be performing during December and January. Catch Harmony at the John Curtin Hotel on December 19, at New Years Evie in Tallarook on December 31 and at the Port Royal Street Party on January 18.

Sunbeam Sound Machine announce new Melbourne show

After completing a month long residency at The Tote throughout November, the 5 piece band have announced they will be performing at The Workers Club this January. Sunbeam Sound Machine have just released their debut double EP One/Sunbeam Sound Machine, which comes with the single “Cosmic Love Affair.”

So to hear Sunbeam Sound Machine live, head to The Workers Club on Saturday 25 January.

They will be supporting D.D Dumbo.

The Chantoozies perform on New Year’s Eve at The Yarraville Club

For a dose of 80s music this New Year’s Eve, make sure to head to The Yarraville Club, where The Chantoozies will be performing. The Chantoozies consist of Tottie Goldsmith, Eve von Bibra, Angie La Bozzetta and Ally Fowler, who are all TV stars from Neighbours, Sons and Daughters, All Saints and The Henderson Kids.

Also performing on the night will be Melbourne based tribute band Party Girls.

Chris Thile announces one off special show in Melbourne

Mandolin virtuoso, composer and vocalist Chris Thile, of Punch Brothers, will perform a one off special show in Melbourne this January.

Chris was recently awarded the MacArthur Fellowship and also won a Grammy for his work on The Goat Rodeo Sessions, collaborating with Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan. In August 2013 Chris released Bach: Sonatas & Partitas Vol. 1.

So to see Chris Thile perform live, head to Fairfax Studios at Melbourne Arts Centre on Monday January 20.
