It's official! Oscar + Martin's show with Parking Lot Experiments and Milk Teddy at The East Brunswick Club on Wednesday 29th February will be the last EVER show at the venue..
After many years in the industry, the owners of the club have decided it's time to kick up their heels and retire. Regretfully for music pundits, the new owners will not be continuing the band room.
During it's time, The East has been host to such great Australian acts from a wide variety of genres, including The Drones, The Mess Hall, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Lisa Mitchell, Cloud Control, Regurgitator, The Hard-Ons, Airbourne, Boy & Bear, Jet and many more.
The East has also been host to such international acts as The Dirtbombs (USA), Jay Reatard (USA), El Guincho (Spain), Band Of Horses (USA), The Drums (USA), Kate Nash (UK), The Bats (NZ), Eilen Jewell Band (USA), Battles (USA), Caribou (Canada), Eli 'Paperboy' Reed (USA), Band of Skulls (UK), The Jim Jones Revue (UK) and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta - USA) amongst others.
Reflecting the history of the venue they will be celebrating its last month with shows ranging from indie Northeast Party House, San Cisco, The Paper Kites to country Jordie Lane, Davidson Brothers to punk and metal La Dispute (USA), I Exist, Whitehorse to jazz and blues Pugsley Buzzard, Geoff Achison and Jimi Hocking.
Closing off will be Oscar + Martin and it will also close another chapter in Melbourne's music scene.
