The National & City and Colour lead the 2016 Bluesfest announcement!

How's this for a Friday festival announcement? The crew behind Bluesfest have come out with their first artist reveal this morning, naming The National and City and Colour at the top of the list for the 2016 event taking place just outside of Byron Bay over the Easter long weekend.

Mansionair confirmed to support Florence + The Machine as last minute tickets for Splendour sideshows are released!

Aussie Florence + The Machine fans who missed out on tickets to the original Splendour in the Grass sideshows have a last shot to get their mitts on them, with a final release going on sale tomorrow morning. The gigs in Melbourne and Sydney were originally balloted shows, with fans entering a system to get tickets, but with an unprecedented number of people registering in the ballot, heaps missed out. The organisers are stoked to have this last batch go on sale Friday morning, though the number is extremely limited.

Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, and Black Star will headline Soulfest sideshows in Brisbane

While Soulfest as a festival may only be taking place in Sydney and Melbourne this year, the promoters aren't going to be neglecting Brisbane anytime soon. Big names from the impressive line up will be spread across three unmissable nights at three different venues around the city, delivering the chance to see such megastars as Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, and Mos Def & Talib Kweli as the duo Black Star.

Southbound announces dates for 2016 event, including extra night of programming in 'Friday Night Fever'!

It can be a pain in the ass trying to make the pilgrimage to your fave festival spot battling the dreaded crawl of traffic on the first day. The good crew behind WA's Southbound Festival have taken this into consideration for the 2016 event and have set up a whole extra night of programming to both alleviate the numbers coming in on the traditional Saturday, but to also get the party started early. Now, approximately 50% of Southbound festival goers will be able to get their hands on tickets that will allow them to get on to the site first, set up camp and kick their Southbound Festival off proper.

Following 10 days of carnival fun, rodeo action, live music, agriculture and a tonne of entertainment, the 103rd annual Calgary Stampede came to an end today in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, crowning their winning riders with huge pay checks and seeing legendary artist Stevie Wonder close out the event with a special performance in the Scotiabank Saddledome.

In an interview with news.com.au, producer extrodinare Diplo confirmed that he will be bringing Walshy Fire and Jillionaire along with him to tour with Stereosonic this year. The trio, better known as unstoppable live act Major Lazer, will play on all dates as the behemoth dance festival tours the country.

Culture Collide announces 2015 dates for San Francisco & LA events!

This October, both San Fran and LA are going to each be hosting a Culture Collide festival of their own, bringing together musicians, music fans, industry professionals and more over a massive two to three days. The Culture Collide experience is one of a kind and in 2015, the brand has partnered with Noise Pop and Spaceland Presents for the first time, while the events are to be presented by The Guardian. Those headed to Byron in a few weeks for Splendour can now start planning their long weekend of tunes, clashes and drink breaks - the official maps and playing times have been released! Of course, the completely sold out festival stands to be one of the best musical events on the Australian calendar this year, with the likes of Blur, Florence and the Machine, Royal Blood and more set to appear - hopefully you don't run into too many serious set time clashes!

Tired Lion change headline Sydney show after winning triple J's Unearthed Splendour in the Grass competition.

Perth's Tired Lion join the likes of KINGSWOOD, Millions and Art vs Science in being the latest winners of triple J's Unearthed competition for Splendour in the Grass! The band will be opening the festival on July 24th, but this has meant that they've had to slightly rejig their headline show in Sydney as a result. Tired Lion will now be performing a special headline set as part of their Figurine EP launch tour at the GoodGod Small Club in Sydney on July 22nd.

New festival 'Memory Lane' aimed at Port Macquarie's youth in the lead up to exams this October!

There are many ways to deal with the doom and gloom associated with end of year exam pressure angst. Some students will shut off completely and go into exam hibernation until the storm passes, while others seem to float through ~seemingly~ easily. For those students down Port Macquarie way, there's a new festival coming your way in October curated specifically to help alleviate stress - it's called 'Memory Lane'. The line up is coming on Tuesday, June 30th, but the all ages affair promises to bring some of the country's best musical talent to the laneway behind Port Central on October 18th.
