Eskimo Joe to release their fifth album in August.

Eskimo Joe are set to release their highly anticipated fifth studio album GHOSTS OF THE PAST on Friday, August 12th, with their new single ‘Love Is A Drug’ serviced to radio stations across the country today.

The single is available to buy digitally now and fans can head to the band’s website http://www.eskimojoe.net/news/love-is-a-drug/ for a preview. The video for ‘Love Is A Drug’ is being shot in Parkville, Melbourne today with ARIA Award-winning director Bart Borghesi, who also directed the band’s ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’ clip.

Love Is A Drug is a song about the rush of blood to the head
and how we try to escape it in the pursuit of stability and union
just when your head thinks it risen above these base emotions
your body pulls you back down in a flash of anger, lust or heat
you hold on till you realise you've lost total control – Kav Temperley

GHOSTS OF THE PAST is the follow up to Eskimo Joe’s platinum selling 2009 album Inshalla, and recorded by the same team that produced the 4 x platinum, #1 album Black Fingernails, Red Wine. GHOSTS OF THE PAST was recorded at The Grove studios on the NSW Central Coast and the band explain the collaborative creative process here: http://www.eskimojoe.net/news/all-about-the-songwriting/

Eskimo Joe recently gave their legion of fans a sneak peak of the album with a run of sold out acoustic shows. The band is also set to perform at Splendour in the Grass next month before hitting the road for a national tour later this year.

The trio of Kav Temperley, Joel Quartermain and Stuart MacLeod has come a long way since their humble beginnings as much-loved indie rock kids in Fremantle, Western Australia. In addition to an already stellar music career that has seen the band tour the world and achieve great success both in Australia and overseas, the boys from Freo have recently launched their own record label, Dirt Diamonds Productions, and built their own recording studio, The Wastelands.

Ghosts Of The Past finds Eskimo Joe taking time to recognise moments that have gone by and create new ones to remember. Times have changed and life goes on, but this is still the band that so many fell in love with over a decade ago.
