'Cheap Thrills' launches at Brisbane's Judith Wright Centre in May!

Brisbane's Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts will be launching a new series of all-ages concerts in May, called 'Cheap Thrills'!

Featuring some of the best up-and-coming indie acts, the launch on the Saturday 12th of May will feature King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Kira Puru & the Bruise, Gung Ho (pictured), and one of our own nominated 12 Australian bands to watch in 2012 Glass Towers.

While the bands play in the Performance Space, the Shopfront will feature DJ performances by DJ Black Amex and DJ Hot Flush, as well as photographic projections by acclaimed Brisbane photographer Dane Beesley.

“The Judy is a fantastic live music venue and we have introduced Cheap Thrills to not only make the space available to Australian artists on the up and up, but to also open our doors to their younger fans who may not be able to experience them in more traditional Valley venues,” said program director Lewis Jones; and given the dire lack of all-ages venues in Brisbane, this is a great step forward for the local music scene.
