Following the announcement that he will play as part of the Falls and Southbound festivals over New Year, Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor has announced another show in Australia, performing under the CANT moniker. The gig will be at Melbourne’s The Prince Bandroom this January, with tickets on sale now.
Playing tracks from his debut CANT release, Dreams Come True, Taylor has gathered a star-studded band to accompany on the journey. Members of the full band will include Dev Hynes (Blood Orange/Lightspeed Champion/Ex-Test Icicles), John Kirby (Sebastian Tellier’s band) and Guillermo Brown (recently played with Jamie Lidell/Arto Lindsey/Saul Williams).
‘Dreams Come True’ features Taylor collaborating with George Lewis Jr. of Twin Shadow. Taylor and Lewis wrote and recorded Dreams Come True in just a week and a half, in a bedroom connected to what used to be Allaire Studios, where Grizzly Bear also recorded their 2009 release Veckatimest.
Outside of his work with Grizzly Bear, Taylor is renowned for his production work, his credits including Twin Shadow’s ‘Forget’, The Morning Benders ‘Big Echo’, and Dirty Projectors ‘Rise Above’. After performing horns and clarinet on TV On The Radio’s ‘Return To Cookie Mountain’, Taylor founded his own label, Terrible Records in mid-2009 with label partner Ethan Silverman. The label was started so Taylor could devote more time to working with emerging artists, and has most recently worked with Dev Hynes of Blood Orange/Lightspeend Champion.
