Brisbane's new music venue The Triffid announces official October opening & launch party for November!

Brisbane's got new venues coming out the ying yang lately and it's a great sign for the industry in that area of the country. The latest venue set to join the party is The Triffid, located in a historic WWII hangar in Newstead. A venue with a capacity of 800, The Triffid has been the project of Brisbane hospitality identity Brett McCall, industry figures Paul Piticco and Jessica Ducrou and musician John Collins (Powderfinger).

Collins says of the project which will see its doors open at the end of October:

"I spent 25 years touring with Powderfinger, playing all manner of venues, so it was really important to me to build a venue that was not only somewhere that punters looked forward to going to, but a space that bands enjoy playing at as well. I know the importance of having a room that sounds good, and that has been a major focus."

The Triffid will be hosting both Australian and international touring acts along with Brisbane's finest, with the venue open from Tuesday to Sunday. 'Triffid Seeds', a three night showcase of music, will be taking place on October 30th and will see the following emerging Brisbane acts play the stage at the venue for the first time:

November 8 is the date to be marking down, as The Triffid will be holding its official launch party, employing the music talents of Saskwatch, The Creases and MT Warning on the night. Get your tickets from!
